Very heavy duty!
I mistakenly ordered the wrong size, this is for large dogs. My Gio only weighs in at 13 lbs, so a little big for him. This is a nice stake for taking with us in our rv. It's easy to drive into the ground (I used a hammer), it moved easily (the swivel )to follow my dog in which ever direction he wanted to go and no getting tangled. It's very sturdy and looking forward to rving with it. The color is a light grey and it comes with a red cap to cover the beveled end that goes into the ground when not in use. Sturdy, all in one and easy to swivel.
This stake is so great. You don’t nerd a fancy line. Just a nice long leash can easily be adapted and used with this stake. My big chunky dog loves being out front with me but can’t be trusted not to go after joggers or bikers. Now I can bring her out using this stake. I made sure to know where our sprinkler line was before putting it in the ground. Once tied up, this stake holds her firm and doesn’t pop out of the ground. So great and dog and I are delighted.
This goes easily into the ground and it goes down pretty deep. My dog is able to move around smoothly and the hook loop moves, glides and spins smoothly in whatever direction it is being pulled. This is nice to be able to give your dog a little freedom while keeping them secured. My dog is a shepherd lab mix and weighs about 120lbs. It is pretty stable in the ground and the top dome part sits nicely and it doesn't stick out too much to be an eyesore. The package also states that it is rust resistant.
This is for the extra-large size tie-out for dogs up to 150 lbs. It's a heavy-duty device, made of heavy-weight metal, with stabilizer wings around the upper portion of the tie-out. It's painted, presumably because it probably would rust after a time and the paint would help mitigate that. I'm not convinced that it could hold a 100+ lb. dog that was really determined to get away, though; and definitely not for a Great Dane or English Mastiff. It's approximately 18" long in total, with the top 2 inches relegated to connect to a lead or cable. The tie-out did not arrive with a cable, so I had to improvise to try it out with a lunge lead. I don't believe its long enough to hold a dog of that size. Other tie-outs have a screw-like shape around the shaft, but this one simply pounds into the ground up to the neck of the device and relies upon the stabilizer wings to hold it in place. I believe you also need to take into account the type of soil you would be driving the device into. We have heavy clay soil - this type of soil holds a device such as this well enough when the ground is fairly dry. However, in heavy rain, the ground softens considerably and the tie-out pulls out rather easily. I would recommend this size for smaller dogs, say, up to 50 lbs. Even then, I think in the upper range approaching that weight limit I would be cautious.
