Just bought this TV and very impressed with all aspects except for one. It takes a full SIX minutes for the TV to bring up a picture while connecting to my router. My router is only one room away, approx 25 feet. My Samsung Blue Ray takes only about one to two minutes to connect, and is three times further from the router. This means, that I have to turn the TV on, then leave the room and do something else, for six minutes then return to the room to start watching the TV. I wish I had knew this before I purchased, it may have changed my mind about getting the internet apps in the TV. I talked to Vizio about turning the internet apps off and on, and they said there was no way to do it.
Going from my previous primary den's TV which was a Sony Bravia DLP to a newer class LCD LED HDTV is a no brainer to begin with. The question is which make and model to actually purchase, so as we all do these days smart buyers, wanting to be happy with their purchases do online research and visually compare at stores here or there. Yet I've always been one to realize that even seeing any TV in action at a store is still a highly flawed perception because there is no way to know how it the signal is hooked up. Is it wired using the expected high quality HDMI cable, coax, or something else which would degrade the input signal? My point is... even seeing a working TV on the shelf does not really give a full sense of anything or the TV's true features and certainly not their full capabilities. So after doing my online research I purchased this Vizio 47" online from Walmart.com on a Monday and received it on Thursday. Initial hookup of a few HDMI's was easy as well as the optical audio output to our Bose surround system. Powered it up, went through the initial setup functions, stood in front of it and made a few tweaks on my color saturation preferences while watching a blu-ray I'm familiar with. From that moment I could not be more astounded at the pure color clarity of this Vizio class TruLED system!! Across the entire color spectrum the picture is STUNNING to behold. Even the darkest blacks are beautiful to see. The online widgets even amazed my wife and has already transformed us into a new era of how we will define and us our TVs. So much so that I've never even considered NetFlix before but within a couple hours of having the TV went online on my computer and signed up for a 30 day free trial, entered on confirmation code and since our home is already wireless internet capable the TV was downloading our movie selections in no time flat from NetFlix. After the trial period the fee rate is $8.95 a month for unlimited downloaded movies with unlimited viewings... from a catalog of over 17,000 titles. So this capability alone amazes me. After going through all the custom settings and configurations my only complaint would be I wish the internal audio selections had a small graphic equalizer. Looking for an awesome TV in this size? Buy this one!! You won't regret it.
the only CON to this review is having to disclose my age..... i ordered this with 2-3 days shipping and got it on the third day after i hit the Submit button. nice! best money spent. i bought the Proscan 47"and for games, it stinks! [took 2 and a half weeks for the delivery guy to show up and he was some huge trucking company i never heard of] for overall sound on tv mode or game mode, Proscan stinks! Vizio came FedEx--for those who care. with this Vizio you can really tweak. i didnt need a cable to make my xbox [original!] to work clear, my ps3 is perfect too. the sound is awesome, the picture tweaks are awesome, i havent used the internet access yet...dont know if i will. **when you get the tv, dont start ripping the box apart! there are 4 white clips that you simply unclip and the whole box lifts off the tv. someone was thinking! the remote is NOT huge or clumsy, its pretty cool. if you dont need to slide out the keyboard, its fine, it stays put. i like the remote. the remote works my direct tv too. i cant say enough about the picture quality on this tv. i have 3 Vizio's now. i get compliments on all of there picture qualities from anyone who stops by. theyre lots of features i havent even used yet and i love this tv. im a very picky viewer. the full led backlight is wonderful, no glare at all.
This things is sick! Excellent picture quality, lots of connectivity options, user friendly interface and dead sexy! I can't comment on the sound quality because i've never heard audio from it's speakers since i'm running a 7.1 setup but I imagine if the audio is anything like the picture quality and it's looks, you'll be more than satisfied. No complaints at all!
My wife and I did have the same 25" GE console for about 30 years. At the beginng of that time frame, this TV had taken center stage for it's size and wooden cabinet. After seeing several sets on display at your store, there was no question in our minds that we indeed needed a new and different TV. We looked at several different makes and models not only at Wal-Mart but at other stores as well. We kept coming back to the the same 42" Vizio for the best looking and life-like picture regardless of what angle it was viewed at (within reason). Also, Consumer Reports rated it one of the highest quality in all aspects. We have done quite a bit of research on this unit. We have thourghly enjoyed many hours of watching different programs on this TV more so than in the past. The definition and colors are truly magnificant even coming right out of the box. The sound did need a tiny bit of tweeking, but really nothing to get excited about. On a lot of the programs the sound does go up and down quite noticeably which I attributed to the station being watched and or the the recording of the program. Unless something drastically happens, we intend to keep this for a long, long time. Thank you for carying this good and quality product.
