this fan is expensive ,and is suppose to be heavy duty's what they said, only used one to two months out of the year and keep it clean and boxed when not in use,,,,surprise after 5 years is not working at all and is not the fuse, nobody could help me to see and fix problem,,,,last time I buy any tornado fan

it keeps me from using the expensive whole house unit. saves a lot of $$$.

Bought this fan to replace a Vornado that we've had for 15+ years. Didn't even look at other fans based on the quality of our original purchase, and we haven't been disappointed! Quality product backed by a quality warranty - it's the only fan I'll ever purchase.

It moves a lot of air which is just what I was looking for. I use it daily to circulate the stale air out of the bedroom and hallway and out the window. My only disappointment was with the tilt - not sure if mine was defective but it will not stay pointed in the angle I want it, it slowly drifts back to an upward position. I'll probably wedge a rubber stopper to keep it from doing that in the future. Otherwise, great product.

I've owned these fans for about 10yrs, the 953 primarily and a few smaller ones. I've only had one fail however, it was subject to drywall dust and moisture. This fan is Made in the USA and the craftsmanship is very different than the 953, the plastic housing density is thicker and the motor itself appears more precision and heavier duty than the 953. The metal stand has a good feel meaning, not thin metal. The fan must be attached to the stand, IHMO they should do this at the factory. The power cord is a three prong end and the cord itself is a thicker gauge than the 953. The airflow between the two models is comparable and the fan noise is about the same. I will be purchasing the 293 over the 953 in the future, the main reason is Made in the USA and the motor. As noted, i've own the 953 for years and these fans run 24x7 in my house and i've only had one fail so, i'm hoping the 293 gives me the same reliable service. ~mike PA formally CA
