To be honest I NEVER write reviews on products but I just can't let this one slide. I really like this product except for the straps that hold it onto the crib. First of all, they are flimsy foam material. Second I have wide sides on my crib and no matter how I try to secure the straps over the tops of the crib side these straps won't fit. Originally I had to add an extra hole on the bottom of the straps just so it can be held in place. Well of course I had to change the batteries in it and while trying to re-attach this to the crib it won't stay in place. I dreaded changing the batteries because of these straps and now I will throw them away and get some string to attach this toy to the crib! Seriously? I can't believe they can't make the straps longer for the more modern cribs. Step it up VTech!

First the cons because they far outnumber the pros. Like many other reviewers, our VTech Nature Light makes a squeaking, grinding noise. It's from all the animals inside moving. This could be avoided if there was an option to run the lights and music without motion, but there isn't. I had a similar product from Fisher Price, and it had the option to run just music or just music and lights without motion, but this VTech doesn't. When you first turn this on, all the lights come on. If you run it with all the lights on, the batteries die super quickly (like within a week or two.) It takes four C batteries, so it gets pretty expensive. After I turn it on, I turn off the ceiling light but leave the other lights on. That makes the batteries last much, much longer. Speaking of batteries, there are two screws with really wide slots on the battery cover. There is a picture showing you to use a coin to open them, and that is what you have to use unless you have a really huge flat head screwdriver. Really? A coin? It's very awkward to change the batteries (and remember, they need to be changed A LOT!) Probably the best thing about this is how easy it is to attach and detach from the crib (which comes in handy since you have to change the batteries so much!) Also, the music is nice (if you can hear it over the squeaking and grinding.) My daughter has become attached to it, otherwise I would have tossed it long ago.

I purchased this item for my infant's crib and it lasted about a week. The light inside started to flicker and then it just stayed on. If I tried to get it to shut off it would get stuck on repeat. I had my baby to sleep and it just started to go off, "It's night night time, It's night night time, It's night night time" over and over. If you're a parent you know how frustrating it can be to have a sleeping baby woken up. I thought it was just a fluke so I took it back to the store and traded it out for a new one. In a week the second one was doing the exact same thing. Not worth the hassle.

Bought for my daughter at about 6 weeks of age. She is now 7 months. She loves this music box and I hate it. It eats batteries. Generic batteries last only 4 days. Brand name batteries maybe 2 weeks. Gears grind and drown the music out. Projector runs batteries down very fast and that is what my daughter loves most about this toy. Also, had to use a shoe string to fasten the box to the head of the crib. The bands that come with the music box to attach to the bed are not safe. My daughter was able to pull the box down and with 4 C batteries iT makes this thing very heavy for a baby. The only pro about this product is it is sound and motion sensored and my daughter can turn it on by pushing the button very easily by herself. Suggestion, prepare to spend hundreds on batteries, or opt for rechargeable batteries, or better yet CHOOSE A DIFFERENT PRODUCT!

I bought this product for my son and loved it at first and so did he!! Especially since he learned how to push the button to make it come on himself. HOWEVER, after about 2 months, it stopped working.... would not shut off, light wouldn't come on and the gears were grinding ike crazy and music was repeating. So I returned it and exchanged it for the exact same thing. This time it only took 2 weeks for the same thing to happen. So yet again, I exchanged it for another one, two weeks later, same problem. Now on the 4th one, the same thing has happened again after only one week. I will be returning it for something else this time. What a shame too, becuase my son really did like it. Don't buy this product it is made very poorly and will break within the first month you own it!
