VTech Video Baby 5" color LCD screen Monitor with 2 Cameras, SM8252-2

Loved this monitor at first as it had all the features I was looking for. However, it suddenly stopped working two months after we purchased it. Took the battery out to reset it (as we have had to do before) and it still wouldn't turn on. And of course I didn't know until bedtime. Needless to say, I didn't sleep well as I have a newborn and a sick child I need to listen for. Not happy!

The camera quality is pretty great. I like being able to play white noise and nursery rhymes from the cameras themselves. It's great for a first time mom like myself, seeing as I would check on him every 5 minutes. Definitely worth the money we spent on it.

This product has a ton of extras, which unfortunately fall short and the camera is pretty terrible in night mode. The features that are nice on it is the temperature reading and the option to view the split screen and see both cameras. The features that fell short and caused me to return it - the white noise has a break every minute or so, so my child couldn't actually fall asleep with it because it was inconsistent. When you have the cameras on patrol between the rooms the green light on the camera not in use flashes (keeping my child from falling asleep as it is another distraction) and the camera in use sends out a high pitch barely audible squeal, but enough to annoy me while rocking my infant to sleep. The only way to mute the monitor is to put it in split mode, so for all the times your kids are awake you hear every noise near their rooms unless you split the screen. While the split feature is nice, the view of the camera is very limited and would require them to be right in the middle of the screen to see them when it is split. And finally, the camera does not have great contrast especially in night mode. I found it difficult on many occasions to find my child with a quick glance in their crib, because there wasn't much definition between the sheets and their PJs. It was frustrating to have stop what I was doing to study the image and make sure they were still in their crib.
