Bought new from Walmart and was sent the item from returns.com. Clearly was a returned item with the box being slightly damaged but the 3rd disk set had a slightly broken case with the last disk in the package being scratched. Will try repurchasing and update review if sent an actual new item.
Great price on an incredible movie collection. Don't pass this up!
Love this trilogy, especially the extended edition
First of all, the movies themselves are all worth 5 stars there is a reason I give this set 3 stars. This boxset is gorgeous and has an abundance of special features that take you further into the making of a film than any other. However... The Fellowship of the Ring has a cyan green layered tint that was added to the film and is only present on the blu-ray extended cut. This basically means that there is a green cover over the entire film. This was done because Peter Jackson was not happy with the overall look of the first film, and wanted to enhance the colors. Now, after seeing this version and going back to the dvd, I can understand what he means in certain shots. The green tint does help with many of the shire scenes, making the hillside bolder and look much more vibrant, whereas the regular version looks lighter and doesn't pop as much. There are also a few mordor scenes where the green tint slightly darkens the picture and once again is much more bold and vibrant. However, there are also the scenes that take place on the mountain that look like they are on a hill of green snow. If a persons skin is too light, like arwen, her face is green in certain shots. Pretty much every scene that has white in it, is now a very annoying green. Some shots look better, but overall it just looks like you need to adjust your tv. If you don't have an eye for this type of thing, this boxset is just right for you. However, if you are bothered by these things, and want the original version of fellowship I recommend going with the dvd box set, as it is now the only way to get the original. All extended cut versions of fellowship on blu-ray have this green tint added.
