Great way to get started if you are new to smoking or charcoal grilling, like myself. I was interested in a few products and ended up going with the 14” WSM mostly for the price point and positive reviews. It was worth every penny and easy to learn on. It's only competition is other Weber WSM cookers, this thing is a beast and the quality is unmatched. Would recommend for beginners and veterans alike.
First time charcoal user! This smoker does an amazing job at keeping heat and maintaining temperature. Get your charcoal going, adjust the vents and you can have up to a 7 hour cook with 1 chimney of charcoal!
Now that I've retired, time to start smoking - meats, that is! First on my list was (were?) St. Louis ribs. They came out both tender and delish! First I seasoned with SPG and put back in fridge for 2 hours. I followed the 3-2-1 method (smoke for 3 hours, wrap in tin foil for 2 hours, and unwrap and put BBQ sauce on for 1 hour - approximately 250 degrees F. I did check meat temperature along the way and also as I took them off. Next challenge will be a brisket - wish me luck! The WSM 14.5" smoker (I hate the metric system - so no 37 cm from me) is the perfect size for me - I'm not feeding the neighborhood - and an easier investment for a pensioner.
Love my smokey mountains, all but the door, They leak period, no matter how much you bend or try and seal. Its worrisome watching so much smoke escape around it that never gets a chance to touch the meat. However, its still an aswome little pulled pork maker. Owning all three (22.5, 18.5, & the 14") i do love how i can make a run in it for small items and only use 1/4 of the fuel my 22.5 uses.
It might be a little bit too small. I thought it would be enough but I wish I had bought the 18” instead
