This bike has been fantastic for my 2 year old son. He rides it every day, and I found the size to be perfect. I do think he'll outgrow it by his 3rd birthday, but he has a younger brother who'll use it after him. It's light enough that my son can pick it up and turn around easily, and he loves to pop wheelies on it. Like other reviewers, I also feel that the hand brake is useless. Ours didn't work, and we haven't bothered to fix it. Overall, though, I'm thrilled with this product.
I bought this for my 2 1/2 year old son who loves bikes but is much too short for the smallest available pedal bike. He absolutely loves it! It's light enough for him to pick up, small enough for him to comfortably sit on and have his feet touch the ground. We have not taken it out to a park yet but he has played with it inside the house and in the grass in the backyard. I'd highly recommend it. The only thing I was surprised by was that the tires are hard plastic, not rubber, BUUUT they are just fine. Most other balance/push bikes are over $60 and being that he will grow out of it quickly, this balance bike for $30 is GREAT! I had to wait a little longer to get it because WalMart didn't have one in stock right away so be prepared for that. From my order date I think I waited about 9 days.
You can't beat the value of this balance bike. It seems well constructed and was easy to put together. The solid tires are fine this age group. At least they'll never go flat.
I'm so happy I bought this bike instead of the one that cost 3x as much at REI. My son is 2 and he loves it. I can see already he will be riding it for a long time.
We bought this for our son's third birthday. Last year he had a Step2 motorcylce bike that he put more miles on than I ever would have thought. I wanted a transition bike without pedals to get him to happily move off that bike and try a new one. I was a little nervous about whether he'd "get" it upon first ride but before I knew it he was going faster with longer periods of balancing. Now a month later not a day goes by that he doesn't ride. After about day 3 he was balancing and riding in circles. I figured for the cost, if only lasts a summer it's okay with me. Besides, my son is at the 75th percentile and it is at the highest setting now, so it won't last until next year. My husband wants me to also post to not even bother with the hand breaks. Senseless for a three year old and impossible to install.
