West Bend 86604 - Steamer

While looking for something for a way for my family to eat healthy I came across this. It's large enough that I can cook all the food in, meats and veggies. Even chicken with bone-in. Most other steamers do not allow that. Only one down side, clean up on the trays after meats are a little tough. The food can get stuck in the holes which can be hard to get clean. I'm a little afraid to put the trays in the dishwasher because our dishwasher is known for melting plastics. But overall I love the size, the fact it steams fast and my kids loves to help put the veggies in, which helps them want to eat them!

I LOVE this product. I was really skeptical about steamers at first but I decided to take the plunge and buy this one and I couldn't be happier. Don't let the price deter you, it's more than worth it. I'm a busy person working full time and going to school full time and rarely have the opportunity to cook so I use my steamer to give me healthy, balanced meals. Vegetables come out crisp and fresh, fish comes out juicy and flaky, etc. For me, it's like restaurant-quality food at home that's fast and extremely easy. It's easy to clean and stands up to my dishwasher, too!

I bought this for my son as a Christmas present. Had no idea you could cook like this. Perfect juicy chicken in 20 minutes, cooks veggies at the same time. We love this and use it daily. All works great, haven't had it long enough for something to go wrong.

I love my West Bend Food Steamer! I have prepared carrots, broccoli, cauliflower, sweet potatoes, green beans, chicken, deer steak, and rice and I've only had it 2 days! It's wonderful! It says that it's dishwasher safe, but not to use the heat dry setting, so I'll always hand wash mine. But handwashing them is very easy if you do it right away when it's still steamy. I really like it and can't believe that I've never had a steamer before now! I like how you can see thru the sides and see how done things look without having to lift the lid. (Though I still check the temp of meat). One thing I really liked about cooking chicken and deer steak in it is how moist the meat was. It was well worth the money! It is perfect for steaming veggies for me to cut up and give to my 11 month old to feed herself. 5 stars!!! I will never go without one now!

The food steamer is easy to use, easy to clean, and does a good job. Based on other reviews, I thought there might be a problem with storage, but the counter top space needed isn't nearly as big as my previous steamer (it died, this is its replacement), and the bowls stack in each other which also helps. The only downside is the steaming bowls seem a bit fragile. I do hope they hold up over time. I look forward to lots of steaming with this item.
