Whirlpool - 30" Recirculating Range Hood - Black

Sure wish I saw the reviews before purchase. No air flow. One star is for how quiet it is. Waisted 20 some minutes trying to get help on the phone. They used most of it asking me for all my information and less than a few seconds telling me they don't have a remedy.

Moved into a rental last week. This over range hood fan provides almost no suction to pull smoke and cooking smells out. The fan can't be more than 6 years old which is when this place was built. We have to leave the windows open when we cook which is OK when it is 75 degrees in Vermont. But at 20 degrees in a few months, that will not be an option. Today the fire alarm went off because of cooking smoke. Again, disappointing to have such a useless fan.

I installed the hood and observed very poor airflow on high speed.I verified the short discharge duct to the outside louver was free of obstructions and it is. The airflow is not sufficient to open the plastic louvers on the side of the house. Even with the fan operating on a table - with no discharge duct restriction, airflow is poor. I hope I am able to return the hood without the box - I threw the box away because I figured the low airflow was related to a discharge duct restriction but it was not - unfortunately it took me a month to determine this.

I had an over the stove built-in microwave with hood that was loud, inefficient and finally broke so I got this because I didn't need the microwave just the hood fans and light. The price was great. The FIT system is advertised as a one-man job. It has 2 brackets that are screwed into the corners of the wall then you slide it in and secure it with two more screws. The wiring was easy for a novice too but have an extra hand ready. It took a lot longer to install than I imagined but that's always the case. It has a two-speed fan, recirculating carbon filter vent and a light. It looks great, I got the SS look one. The fans are so quiet I didn't think they were working but on high the sound is still almost imperceptible unless you stick your head right under it. After a smoke test and cooking a steak on high it worked great- no smoke alarm as a timer anymore. Buy the three-foot cord kit that's extra, you will need it. That 3 ft. length is very hard to find.

This is a wonderful dependable product at an affordable price. It is also esthetically pleasing and really brought things together in my modest kitchen.
