Bought these boots and had a hell of a time with a manufacturing defect in the mid-section of the tongue. I took the time to wear-in the boots and this never went away. Eventually I just wore them a bit loose. They held up while doing attic solar installations and factor work for over a year. I was about to buy another pair, but the price has doubled since my purchase. These boots wear decent, but not so good as to justify such an increase in price. It's exactly the perfect style of boot, but manufacturing quality needs to increase and price needs to come down.
I've had them for a while now and worn them for a few days at a time, literally only taking them off during sleep, here is how I can sum them up: waterproof, breathable and very comfortable for a pair of work boots, unlike many other similar-looking boots (especially Timberlands) they don't damage the foot and don't make them sweat as much. The safety toe, made of fiberglass that Wolverine calls "Carbonmax" (probably to suggest/make a potential buyer think that there work boots contain exotic material called Carbon Fibre, which is prohibitively expensive and rarely used in shoea, without actually saying it outright and thus not exposing themselves to a potential legal liability) is just as good as a steel toe but lighter, doesn't get cold in winter or hot in the summer and doesn't conduct electricity, making them safer and much more enjoyable. One of the benefits of these usa-made shoes is that the hooks in top that hold the shoe laces are made out of actual metal and not plastic. I have or had a cheaper pair of Wolverines called i95 or whatever but those, even though they were almost identical in price, had plastic hooks that broke after just a couple of months and much more inferior leather. I cleaned snow in these boots for 6 hours and they did not leak or became wet on the bottom at all, they also absorb bumps really well, however, they are quite slippery on ice, wet snow and some other instances, not a deal breaker though, I still like them a lot. Even the shoe laces are made out of a high quality material, these are VERY good work boots for a light duty environment!.. And the reason I have to accentuate "light duty" is because the leather, while comfortable, is very gentle and gets damaged very easily, not something I was expecting from a hardcore work boot Wolverine claims it is... Scratches, dents and other forms of damage show up right away and are easily noticeable on my black boots, more so on these. However, after I'm done writing this review I will buy another pair in this same color because they look good, are comfortable and all you have to do is be more careful, that's all. I mean, at $190 I expected them to be a bit more robust but, once again, not a deal breaker.
Finally. I remember the day my dad took off his last pair of wolverines. Being he was a union man the thought of his favorite boot switching to making a lot of there boots out of the country he simple stop purchasing them and then I grew up and followed in his footsteps only wearing USA made work boots. Preferably union made but off to a great start. Thanks wolverine
It'sa great boot. I actually went to over 6 stores looking for these boots. Unfortunately, even after spending $200, I still needed to buy additional gel inserts to make the boots comfortable and the neatly plastic shoelaces will not stay tight for more than an hour. I'm constantly retieing my boots because the laces are so cheap. I would expect more from such an expensive boot
I wore my boots around the house for a few hours a day before using them at work. They didn't seem to have much cushion so I didn't have high expectations. But they seems to fit well. After wearing them at work for two days, I have big regrets. It started with pain in both heels. By the end of the day, I had pain all the way up to my neck. And I have so much fatigue, I feel like I could sleep for two days straight. I'm 5'6", about 145lbs. I deliver beer so I walk all day, pushing a hand truck or pulling pallets around. I need a boot that offers all day comfort, not all day pain. As I woke up this morning to write this review, my left knee is still in pain and my neck, back and shoulders are very stiff. I would not recommend these boots.
