The chime received does not resemble the picture associated with it on the web site. It is NOT varnished to a high gloss. It barely has one coat of varnish on it.

I really like this bamboo wind chime. Hayneedle had a little audio clip of what it sounded like so I was able to listen to it before making a decision on purchasing it. I looked at several wind chimes and listened to the audio clips and this one was my favorite. It's not a high pitched obnoxious sounding chime. It's a nice soft and soothing sound. It makes me dream of being on a beautiful tropical island. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because the black ring at the top is lopsided. It looks as if the string that looped through it broke and when they fixed it they didn't get it straight. I'll fiddle with it someday maybe. I'm OCD and a perfectionist so I have difficulty dealing with looking at things when they're crooked or lopsided. All in all I got this on sale at a good price and I'm enjoying it very much.

On the day I installed it we had gusts up to 40 mph so it was blowing sideways and held up great. Once it calmed down the next day we had the pleasure of it's wonderful sounds. Very pleased in every respect. We will be adding more.
