I used these for years when I jogged over snow in the winter and they worked very well. Eventually, the rubber or coils broke. I switched to a heavier duty cleat for walking on icy roads but prefer the comfort of the YakTrax on slippery snow. I especially appreciate that they are not bulky and that they fit evenly over my foot.
I didn't try them yet but I tried them on both pair of boots I have. The 9.5 size is right on. I like the strap. I'm glad you offer 1/2 sizes. If not I probably wouldn't have ordered them. I was using an old pair of fishing corkers but they are too heavy.
My husband and I received our Yaktrax for Christmas and because our weather held out we were able to walk almost every day at a park. We walked on snow and ice and blacktop. My husbands only lasted about a month. Mine broke soon after. So, we love them, just wish they lasted longer!
I live in the foot hills of the Adirondack Mountains and our access road is usually ice covered from mid December until late March. Two years ago, I was walking on the ice, in a rush and didn't put on my Yak Trax which resulted in a fall the resulted in a fractured rib. Not only do I wear them now, I got a pair for my wife. If you live in the North and deal with a lot of ice, they're worth every penny.
Used these in the Grand Canyon Bright Angel Trail a couple of weeks ago. They worked great in snowy and icy trails, we didn’t even realize how well they worked until we saw others without them moving at a snails pace! Felt very secure even on inclines. They did need to be occasionally adjusted but it was not a big deal, maybe once every hour-ish. They are easy to take off and put on if the terrain switches, and lightweight to carry and clip onto your pack without issues. Highly recommend.
