Yes it has short battery life - as do most smart locks with Wi-fi. So monitoring battery life while you are away is pretty important. The problem is that the Yale App does not show you battery life. To get this info I had to connect the lock to Apple HomeKit. The problem with that is that I travel a lot and if you want to use HomeKit while you are away from the house you will need a bridge such as an Apple TV or and Apple HomePod. If anyone has found another answer to this I'd love to hear about it.
