Zatarain's Alfredo Pasta Dinner, 6.3 oz

Please tell me why this is no longer in stock and will it come back ? My family loves this easy meal !!

I can always count on Zatarain's to get my taste-buds marching! When I think of alfredo I usually think of the same old Italian mix of herbs and spices floating in a cheesy puddle on top of a piece of chicken. I knew I was in for a much desired change of pace as soon as I started mixing the ingredients. The entire meal was very simple to prepare. I decided to use shrimp as my meat. I steamed it with a little Old Bay seasoning and then added the shrimp on top after plating the servings. Delicious.

The texture is too grainy and not like the usual smooth creamy texture of regular Alfredo. I don't know if New Orleans style is supposed to be so lumpy but I wasn't impressed.

This Alfredo pasta dinner mix makes a good quick meal, as the box contains the sauce and pasta together in one sealed package. Zatarains is generous with the spices and herbs, and the resulting sauce, with spiral pasta, is tasty. Although the ingredients are dehydrated, they cook up with the appearance and taste of fresh seasonings. Variations and suggestions for meats are included on the box. The 6.3 oz. package claims to serve five one-cup portions, but the package (with additional meat added) will make a good serving for two adults each as an entree. The directions for cooking are simple, maybe a little too simple. Adding milk to an already hot pan can make disappointing sauce for an inexperienced cook, I might like to see a little more instruction about that. My family found the sauce a little too thin, but still tasty and well-seasoned. Zatarains seems to be trying for a quick, one-pan meal...and this fills the bill, but it did not turn out as well as their rice dishes. As with a lot of processed and convenience foods, you can have quick and tasty, or slow and delicious...it's going to depend on how much time you have to fiddle with them.

I really enjoyed how creamy the alfredo sauce was and thought the spices used was a perfect blend; not to overpowering like most Cajun dishes. They also provide an exceptional amount of pasta that paired well with the chicken I used. I would definitely buy the product again! Five star product for sure!
