ZTE STZEZ289GP4P Straight Talk Z289G Hotspot

I don't download movies, music etc and this device drains my GB! I am very disappointed. Called customer service, absolutely no help. I told cs rep he was of no help to me...he said"that was my entitled opinion". As I type this message I've already used 100 mb. Within 2 days I used 2 gb. And I was only one using. Don't buy. It's a waste of money!

Beware!! Please read and believe the reviews about data loss! They are true. There is a major problem with this service that has not been corrected!! I switched from a Verizon phone to a Straight Talk wireless phone and it has worked great. So I decided to replace my Verizon hotspot with the ST wireless hotspot as well. Big mistake! I read the reviews about data loss but also read a review which said problems with the hotspot had been fixed. They have not! The first two weeks were fine. The hotspot worked just as the Verizon one did. Not super fast but just fine for my purposes. I do not stream movies or play online gaming, only email and regular web browsing. I only purchased a 1GB card because I wanted to test the service before commiting to the 5GB card. The first two weeks I used 250 MB (I was watching closely) Then one morning I used 750MB in an hour and a half!?! Not possible! Still not sure I wasnt to blame, I bought another 1GB card. Used less than 30MB the first night; the second night I checked and still had most of the 1GB remaining. 30 minutes later it was gone!! I opened exactly 2 web pages. As I was reading an article on the second page the connection was gone. 1GB in 30min !?! I called customer service. They answered promptly and were polite but kept repeating the same thing over and over like robots, "According to our records you used all your data." I explained it wasnt possible. Again the same response. Over and over. They would not give me more data or a new sim card or anything at all. Nothing. In my opinion, I firmly believe someone has figured a way to siphon data from users accounts or some other serious problem. Given other customers reviews and complaints, Straight Talk must be aware that there is a major issue. But they have not fixed it!! Read this review. Read the other reviews about data loss. The reviews are true! Don't but a Straight Talk hotspot! Don't use this service!!

Picked it up yesterday, the Walmart near me only had the AT&T one so I took a shoot since both are hit and miss on phones where I live. Setup in 10 minutes online. Worked great very fast. I read people say there data was gone quickly, I would guess that is because they don't set up a password and others are jumping on or they never turn it off and it just keeps pinging. Do both and you should have no problem. I down loaded a poker site and played for 1 1/2. Down load was 90 MB and when I was done it said I had used 120 MB for the whole time. It tells right on the screen when you hit prepay option. No more VERIZON and I am thrilled.

This service is the worst service EVER!! Jus got service last night 5gb and it was gone in less than 8 hours!!! Like really this is crazy unreal cant do anything wit this service only had 1 device connected and got on 1 website!!! Do something about this or you will lose alot of customers!!!!

The Z289L uses the AT&T network. With a download speed of10Mbs, pages load fast when browsing the internet. Occasionally access to the internet may be slow but websites will still load. It is not suitable for viewing or downloading You tube videos. When downloading large files the download speed will start out fast then slow down and then finally quit. The Z289G is unable to download large files. I am unable to use the Z289L to manage my websites because AT&T dynamically changes the IP address when connecting to the internet. Data remaining is displayed on the wifi hotspot and is not available at straighttalk.com. When the data runs out there will be no access to the internet, no indication to the user that there is no data remaining, and the hotspot may still show several hundred MB remaining. When adding a new service plan any existing data remaining will be lost. Existing data remaining will not carry over to the new service plan.
