Something Weird Video has paired up two obscure war stories (both set during World War II but shot and released in the early '60s) for this DVD release. Shell Shock has been transferred to disc in its original full-frame aspect ratio of 1.33:1, while Battle of Blood Island has been letterboxed at 1.66:1. Both films are in English, with no multiple language options. As is their habit, Something Weird has tacked on plenty of bonus materials, including two WWII-vintage propaganda films (one is the outrageous must-see "Our Job in Japan"), trailers for eight other battlefield epics, and a public-service short with Bing Crosby pitching war bonds. Source material for everything on this disc is a bit on the worn side, but the collection plays with good-natured gusto.
