Arrived on time works like a charm , its a bit noisy but it works good for what i need i recommend to buy
This is our second generator, but first with an electric start. It was easy to set up, started up right away, and works great.
This generator was delivered last week, but I just had the chance to finish the installation to the house today. I used the interlock and backfeed breaker method. I did the exterior work yesterday, but the interlock just arrived today, so I was able to finish the job. I load-tested the system today, and I was impressed. Basically, this generator will power anything in the house -- just not all simultaneously. For example, I can use the electric range or I can dry laundry in the electric dryer, but I can't do both at once. In the meantime, the critical stuff like the furnace, the lights, and the well pump can run all the time. In other words, this is a great generator for an average whole-house backup if you have enough good sense to not exceed its design capacity. After freezing my derriere off for three days last winter during an outage, I decided to make this generator my birthday present to myself. Based on the load test, I'm happy I did. I feel... energized! If you decide to use this generator as a backup for your house, please make sure to use an approved transfer switch or safety interlock. Linemen die every year from people improperly backfeeding their generators and inadvertently energizing the utility lines. It's not that hard to do things right -- and you may save a life. I'm attaching some pictures of my own installation. I used AWG 6 THWN to the inlet box, AWG 6 UM-B (aka "Romex") from the inside junction to the distribution panel, and the backfeed breaker and interlock made by my panel's manufacturer for the panel I have. Total cost to install it myself and up-to or exceeding code was about $200.00. Richard
We only received this a few days ago and will not use unless we have a significant weather event such as an ice storm, etc. The 2017 hurricanes in TX & FL caused us to realize it would be good to have back up power just in case. We had our local electric coop install the necessary plug-in to accommodate this generator so, if needed, we hope it will be of great value and work/run well. It is a 4-cycle engine which is supposed to run quieter so we hope that is true. It was delivered in a timely manner & packed very well and looks like the Range Rover on Mars so it should be just what we need in case of power outages.
This generator is awesome. I converted it to Natural Gas using a conversion kit and hooked it up to my gas meter to run 24/7. During the break-in test run this generator started and ran my 5-ton central AC after I installed a 5-2-1 hard start kit on the AC compressor - that's impressive.
The power for the price is great
Recieved generator two days early! That was great! Battery was already installed, just added oil and fuel and it was ready to go! Turned off main power, hooked up generator, started right up and ran any item in the house! Very satisfied!!!
I bought this generator almost a month ago to power my food vending trailer. The generator runs everything absolutely well with no problems. Unfortunately, it is not so quiet. I am going to have to return the generator and try to find another one as I would not be allowed to use it at some of the venues I go to because of the noise. Other than that, though, the generator is awesome. I put it together, put the oil in it, put the gas in it and it fired right up. I turned everything on in my trailer, including my hood vent and air conditioner and it didn't even change pitch on the motor.
The unit starts easily and runs well, and for the most part, the design is capable and well-executed. Fit and finish (pow der coating)is well above typical for this class of generato. IIt recovers from a sudden heavy load quickly (such as a 240V oven), a plus. It is not without shortcomings however, both in design details and in the owner's manual. Output Receptacles: The 38A output uses a standard 14-50P plug, the same as RV 50A cables use, making one readily available. Because of the output (<40A), 8/4 stranded wire is fine. The 30A output also uses a common plug (L14-30P; which like the -50P, is configured for 3 pole [4 wire], 120/240V, so care in wiring for 120V [1 pole 3wire] is necessary). Wheels: Instructions imply that the frame is raised enough within the packing to simply install the wheels and backstand. Not so; the unit has to be raised at each end. Battery: The hole on the negative battery terminal is set so low, it's very difficult to access the nut and bolt. While the battery can be charged with a special connection on the unit, integral charging would have been a nice touch. I use a battery float charger (about $15) and leave it connected so the battery will always be charged when needed. The engine does, however, start easily on the recoil starter. Engine Oil: The tag on the oil dipstick says to use 10W30 oil. The manual says 30HD above 40°F. 1 qt. of 10W30 oil is supplied, but the engine takes 1.5 qt., so shop early. The hour meter is useful for oil change intervals, but the oil should be changed at least annually, regardless of the number of hours. Valve Lash: Buried in the manual is the requirement to set valve lash after 50 hours. While clearances are given, no instructions are provided. Engine should be cold, and lash is measured between the backside (unengaged sector) of the cam and the follower. Not everyone has the special feeler gauges required for this, and at over 250 lbs,, toting it to a shop is impractical for most owners. That said, the valves are easily accessible, another plus for the DIYer. Noise: There is a claim this generator is “super quiet”; it is not, but it is among the less noisy ones in its class. For truly a quiet generator, one would have to get a MUCH more expensive unit. Fuel Filter: There is no fuel filter, but one can easily be installed. Idle Storage: The manual suggests draining the fuel tank or using a stabilizer. Most folks would prefer not to have to fuel the generator in the rain or snow when it's needed, nor is there a quickdrain for the fuel tank. The best alternative is to use stabilizer (formulated for the usual ethanol-poisoned gas) and top off the tank. Without air, fuel is pretty stable. A small dose of a good carb cleaner is also suggested. I use SeaFoam or Techron. Stopping the Generator: The manual is obscure; most entries say to use the “Stop” switch. This is OK for refueling, but for storage, the fuel valve should be closed and the generator allowed to stop from fuel starvation. This will minimize the chance of gumming up the carburetor.
The picture on the Sams Club product detail does not show my issue but I have a problem with the 30 amp plug on the panel. The manufacture apparently put a new circuit breaker right next to the 30 amp plug which prevents the power cable plug from fully seating. I called and their customer service and they said nobody else has called about the issue so I emailed them photos showing the problem. Apparently they are planning on ignoring the problem. I did find that if I twist off the plastic cover off of the breaker then the plug fully seats. Not that big of deal except I was angry they didn't even try to work things out with me. Other than that the generator works great. It has sturdy construction and work flawlessly. I downgraded my review by two stars due to the lack of response with my problem.
