The Pioneer Woman Olive Wood 3 Piece Mini Kitchen Tool Set is perfect for cooking in the kitchen or to give as part of a gift set. The wood has a beautiful natural two toned grain and is solid. There is a two ended spoon for stirring and tasting. Each end is a different size that can be used for various needs. Then the other two utensils are like curved spatulas, with one being wide and the other is skinny (the information sheet calls these a cross between a spoon and a spatula and names them as a spurtle). I have used these for stirring and scooping out ingredients from jars. These are so smooth and I have not experienced any splintering. The care instructions say these should be hand washed and a dishwasher is not recommended. I don't have a dishwasher so this isn't an issue for me. I have experienced issues in the past with wooden products being submerged in water so instead of letting these soak with my regular dishes I just wash these right after use, pat them with a towel, and then let them finish air drying. The packaging is a paper/cardboard and can be recycled. The wood set is made in China.
I was quite surprised when I received this. I had anticipated a long skinny handled wooden spoon. To my amazement, I received two big and beautiful wood grained wooden spoons. They are so pretty, they are even prettier when they are wet, and the wood grain shows up even better. I washed them up and let them dry a bit. Then I was ready to put that spoon to the test. I had a lot of beans cooking on the stove, with a big thick spoon like this one, I don't have to worry so much about the heat from the pot. It worked just great, it works well with soups, sauces, and I even tried tossing a salad with it in one of my large bowls. This spoon works great with pots and pans that are coated and you don't want to have to worry about scratching them. I have one T-fal pan, so I will be using this spoon a lot with that pan. When I finished with dinner that night, I washed up my dishes and when I got to my new wooden spoon that is when I noticed that while it was wet just how pretty the wood grain is and how it stands out. I will enjoy using this spoon and hopefully it will last me a long time. I give this a 5.
The Pioneer Woman Olivewood Mini Utensils is a set of three items. They include a two ended tasting spoon, a cross between a spatula and a spoon which is being called a “spurtle” and a larger spurtle. The olivewood is a very pretty wood and would look nice setting out in a decorative container on your kitchen counter. I’ve been using the larger spurtle to get the honey out of the bottom of the jar. The two ended spoon is great for either stirring in a small cup or bowl or to use it to taste whatever you are making. It is recommended that since these are wood they do not go into the dishwasher. They need to be hand washed. I also suggest that they are not allowed to be left in liquid for too long as the liquid can raise the grain of the wood. I like these items and will probably look for more items along this line.
I received my mixing spoons today and love them!!! These wooden spatulas are just what every kitchen needs. They are dual purpose tools. They can be used for baking or or for cooking soups. They work great for mixing bowls and gathering all the ingredients inside the bowls as well as for mixing around inside the bowls. They are strong!
I got a 2 pack of these Pioneer Woman Rustic Olive Wood Spoons for free from Walmart Spark Reviewer in exchanged for my honest opinion about them and I highly recommend these! They are thick and one of them has this swirl color through it and my husband likes that one best. The other one is plain brown wood spoon. I am going to add a couple pictures to show you. These will come in handy when I am using my crockpot or just a making something on top of the stove and need to stir! I do not like using metal spoons on my pots I cook in so these are perfect! These 2 spoons that came together are $8 at Walmart. Very reasonable price and because of the thickness of them I know they will last a long time! These would make for a nice gift!
A wooden spoon is a must have utensil and certain recipes suggest a wooden spoon be used and these would be the ones to have. They are not flimsy but durable and thick that make using them enjoyable that I want to use them for all the sauces, stews, chili, etc. I made chili and they don't stain, they are very stain resistant, which all wooden spoons should be. The handle has a grip so you can stir what your making without slipping, and the spoon part is big enough that it is very effective at stirring whatever you using it for. This replace the outdated wooden spoons with a 'Cowboy Rustic' charm and from a reliable line of products that are known for their high quality and they have a lot of personality. A dishwasher is not recommended, hand wash only. It is made from olive wood so you will want to preserve these for a long time, and they will last that long with proper care There is a pretty butterfly on the handle, there is nothing not to like about these wooden spoons.
Most of the pots and pans that we use are ones in which you cannot use metal. So, wood or plastic it is. That’s why I chose this Pioneer Woman Rustic Olive Wood spoon to review. I have two older bamboo spoons that have stood the test of time for years. I have had these Pioneer Woman spoons for several months and they are also standing the test of time. There is a tiny bit of wear on the end of one of them. But that is it. They are very good quality and look nice, too. They are not too short, so I can use them in large pots. I pretty much use these spoons everytime I cook. They are easy to clean. I don’t have to soak them to get off old food. A plastic scrubber will get the job done. So, this olive wood holds up very well. And they have the cool holes at the end of the spoon, giving you the option of hanging them up or tossing them in the drawer.
These have such a good feel, so smooth. I love the color, I could not capture how lovely they are in my picture. I've never owned a "spurtle" that is what two of these are called it's a mix between a spoon and a spatula. The only negative is that these can not go in the dishwasher, and have to be oiled every once in a while. Otherwise I can see these lasting a lifetime, well made.
I just bought some really expensive pans and need to get some utensils that would not damage them. Some sets I got were big, bulky and flimsy. This set is sturdy and nice sized. Love the double spoon. I only gave 4 stars because I wish there was a true spatula for flipping larger items.
The Pioneer Woman kitchen tool set would make for a perfect housewarming gift. It has some amazing essentials you wouldn't have even thought you needed to make your kitchen tool arsenal complete. I like the unique spoons for scraping food out of jars or whipping up desserts. I am sure there are a variety of different functions available to you with this 3 piece tool set - possibilities are indeed endless!
