This movie was everything I expected and more. Great casting, memorable performances, to say this is a tear jerker is an understatement! I enjoyed this so much. Queen LaTifah continues to outdo herself, Jennifer Hudson is only at the beginning of her rich and vibrant future..All I can say for these two is WOW! Dakota Fanning, is she remarkable or what?? She only gets better with each movie and each year she gets older. Sophie and Alicia, just great. The entire cast was just superb. By far the best movie I've seen in the past 5 years.

The film contained powerful and captivating performances from the whole cast. Dakota Fanning was precise in her ability to bring to life a character that so many of us have fallen in love with. If you read the book, you well know that this is not a happy-go-lucky, laughing with your friend’s type of movie. It was heart-wrenching and, at some points, overbearingly sad but you fell in love with the characters and the story. I felt that the writers and producers really understood that they needed to create a film that could be loved as much as the book and they were successful in doing so, which is not the case with many films based on novels. I think they did the book justice and I would recommend the movie as well, you will love it!

From Start to finish this movie has spunk. A drama that spirals out of control when a young girl who deals with the inner battle of killing her mother at a young age in this 60's era. Starring noble Women of today's time this all star cast succeeds and has you filled with laughter,heartache, and joy from beginning to end. A heart warming tale that deserves the best of the best at any up coming awards ceremony.

Overall this movie is very good. All the characters do a fabulous job of depicting the characters in the book. If you see this movie, please read the book, as it has much more detail and is an excellent read. Will be telling all my friends to see this movie.

This movie is now my all time favorite! Dakota Fanning shows true maturity in this move when it come to romance. I thought her and Tristian wilds on screen love affair was so sweet and real. August (Queen Latifa) was heart warming, and soulful. June got on my last nerves in the beginning, but grew a kind heart in the end. May's fun, and loving personality brought the film to life, and Rosealen (Jeniffer Hudson) was a wonderful add to the movie. I didn't like the ending too well, for some reason I wanted I wish they would have showed how she coped with having four mothers and no father. Overall this movie is wonderful. It will make you cry so bring a pack of kleenex or a roll of tissue.

I was totally engrossed in this movie from the very first scene.The story was deep and all roles were well acted.It actually made me feel as if I were a part of those racially tense times of the 60's in the deep south. My favorite character was "May".Sophie Okonedo played the role of the "special" sister so well.I laughed with her, cried with her and felt her emotions.It made me realize the old addage "it takes a village to raise a child" is actually true-to-life a lot of the time.I think that this movie is one that a lot of people needed to see so close to the election of an african-american presidential candidate!

This tear-jerker was also a feel good movie -- it illustrated how people with different backgrounds and perspectives can establish lasting connections. The set-decoration was implausible -- or bee-keeping pays really well -- but the emotions displayed seemed real.
