I have used a lot of different razors over the years and this is by far the best razor I have ever had. The cutters and screens out last anything else many times over, hands down. They cost more than other screens and cutters but they do a superior job and give a great shave. I will buy them again when I need replacements, without any doubt.
For years I used a Braun shaver with the liquid cleaner that supposedly cleaned the razor after usage. Then, every month I would have to put out $20.00 for the cleaning apparatus and the liquid cleaner. That was a marketing gimmick. With the Panasonic razor I just use dust off, or run it under water and it cleans just fine. Great close shave and no after market monetary output. I just replaced the blades after over a year of use and it still shaves great, even if I were to use the old blades.
This is the second time I purchased this replacement kit. The shaver base still works well, keeping a charge almost as well as when new. I get a lot of mileage out of the foil and blades...maybe a bit too much, as it has been two years since the last order. Now that I'm using the new blades, I'm getting a much better shave than with the old, worn blades and I'll try to order after just one year has passed and hope they are still in stock!
This electric shaver shaves better than a blade. In addition , you don't have to deal with the mess that shaving foam makes. I also like it that the shaver is a wet and dry shaver. That makes it very easy to wash it, because you won't need to worry water getting in the device. The only drawback I can mention is that it's a little expensive.
So I finally after at least a couple years changed the cutters and foil, what a huge difference. I should have done it sooner, smoother, closer, quieter, faster.....
We bought two Panasonic ES8249 Wet/Dry razors in 2009. They were the best electric razors we've ever owned. Just this year, 2015, we decided they were not giving us the close shave they had when new, so we ordered these replacement heads. We choose not to use the charging bases to clean the razors (too much bother keeping the cleaning chamber clean and replacing the fluids), but instead dip the heads in detergent water and run for a few seconds. Get's the whole head completely clean. Once again we are getting the closest shaves we've ever gotten without a razor blade and lather. My beard grows in every direction, so most other razors leave "rough patches". The razors hold their charge the same as they did when they were new and we think we may never need to buy new ones! I've never had a razor that lasted more than 2-3 years before replacement was needed. The razor and these heads are excellent products.
Panasonic shavers are the best! I've never shaved with a blade in over 63 years, have used all the brands, and my Panasonic gives the closest, quickest shave, without leaving any uncut whiskers and without any irritation. You can't ask for a better shaver. The replacement head and cutters make it brand new in less than one minute.
Changing the blades on your shaver is just one of those things that you ask yourself, is it worth the money if it still works? I thought with an electric shaver it probably didn't matter, not like with an actual non-electric shaver. But, when I finally broke down and replaced these blades, what a difference! You just don't notice how warn the blades get over time. It's like I have a brand new shaver now.
I have owned my Panasonic 8243a razor for about 5 years. The manual says the foil should last 1 year and the blades should last 2 years. In my case I have to change both about every 6 months. Am I doing something wrong? Are there any tips to make the blades and foil last longer?
My main concern is the quality the the product. I have owned the Panasonic shaver for 3 years and in the last couple of years the blades seem to dull quicker than the last set I purchased. A big noticeable change in quality of steel used to make the blades. My last purchase, using the blades for a week, they seem like I have use it for a month or longer. I am so dissatisfied, I have begun the hunt for my next shaver!
