I bought this for my puppy because he kept doing his duties on and around our backyard patio. We have a large enough yard for him to pick and choose where to eliminate but he was insistent on that spot. My husband placed the stake (smells really bad, like manure) in an out-of-view spot. The instructions state to lead your dog to that spot after eating or drinking which we tried, but he wasn't having it. After about a week we decided that it just wasn't going to work and we'd have to find another solution, but left the stake in. It's been about a month now and we've noticed that our patio is clear of Dexter's "presents." My husband went to investigate around the stake and sure enough, evidence that this thing really works! We are so excited to have our patio back! It takes some time as some breeds are more stubborn than others, but you'll definitely see the results. Btw, in case it's important, Dexter is a mix breed, Boxer and Border Collie.
