Excellent little welder for light duty jobs. I have welded up to 3/8" steel and the weld is very strong. Great starter kit. comes with the sticks, gloves hammer, wire brush & helmet. I recommend this product for light duty welds. I like arc welding better than mig but that's just me. For the price you won't find a better kit.
I've had the machine for about 2 months and so far I'm satisfied. It's good for light welding. It took a while for me to get use to it (it sticks a lot), but turned out to be a good machine. It'll burn 3/32 rods fairly easy. I have not put a load on any welds but it makes a nice bead. A great machine for around the house.
A. Works fine with 25ft+ extention cords. B. Easily portable (not many welders are) C. Runs 6011, 6013 and 7014 like a dream. D. Hope it grabs Miller/Hobart/Lincoln's attention as they don't seem to want to support a 110v entry-level machine....fine I my buy another from CH just because I can!
This little welder is great for LIGHT DUTY WORK. I'm a Farrier(horseshoer) and use this welder in my shoeing trailor. For what I need from a welder it is perfect. It is light, easy to handle, and welds fine for what I needed.
I purchased this welder about two months ago, and I have not been disappointed with it at all! It comes with everything you need to start welding right out of the box; including a good welding helmet. I have used it almost everyday and it works great. I am an experienced welder/ home remodeling contractor and when I say you should add this little baby to your arsenal of tools, trust me. It runs on 110 power, it has a thermal-overload protector, I have used it with a 50-foot drop cord with no problems, and it will even burn 3/32" rods! I am going to purchase a second unit to have as a back-up.
I've never welded before, but I always wanted to learn. This is a great inexpensive way to teach yourself. Comes right out of the box ready to go. Get some 5/64 in. rods and you can do some real welding. Practice makes perfect. Way to go Walmart!
This is an amazing deal for what you get. You get everything you need to immediately start welding. Unfortunately, its a particulary tricky welder to use. To actually get an arc and weld takes way more time and patience than larger welders. Not a good welder to learn with or do big jobs but great for what its intended for and as mentioned, the price is unbeatable!
I purchased the Campbell Hausfeld 70 Amp Stick Welder with Ready-to Weld Kit and it arrived about 7 days after purchase. I am somewhat new to welding and wanted to try my luck with this home welder. Out of the box it was an easy set-up, the kit included welder, helmet, gloves, hammer/brush and electrodes, which was nice so you did not have to purchase anything seperately. I bought this welder for hobby welding, small projects and mainly for fun. I have used the welder for about 1 month now and it can make some simple nice welds. One thing this welding unit is missing is a variable amperage, but I still think its a great price for the welder and kit. Another nice feature is the unit plugs directly into your home outlet without blowing any fuses. The unit probably won't last a long time but for anyone interested and starting welding you can't go wrong at $99 for an open the box and start welding unit. For my next welder I will purchase one with more user control, but for anyone interested in trying welding and has small projects, this is a great deal! 4 Stars from me only because the welder is very basic.
I am an amateur welder and this was my first experience at welding. This welder was easy to use and worked fine on a 20 amp outlet on the regular 120 volts. My biggest gripe is that the helmet that came with the welder was too darkly tinted to see what you were welding.
Listen guys, do not purchase this welder. I used it twice and it worked fine, but the third time with this machine was not a charm. It stopped working. I went through all the troubleshooting steps in the manual and it still didn't work. It was a decent buy for everything that comes with it but the welder itself is not worth it. Save your money and buy a welder that will last.
