After only 2 years we are having an issue with the computer turning itself off. It was taken to MIcrocenter, they diagnosed the issue was with the motherboard. We mailed the motherboard to ASUS repair, (since it is still under warranty) they could not replicate the issue, after some updates, it was returned to us. We continue to have the same issue. I filled out a form for more help through ASUS. We have been without the use of the computer since MAY. It is the middle of July. I can't say I am very impressed with this brand of motherboard.
The motherboard works very well for a less than 100w processor and runs my 3600 DD4 memory at the stated rate, unlike the MSI Gaming Plus B550 I purchased for my media server. I am concerned about this motherboards ability to run higher wattage CPU's without overheating but for now it runs my R5 3700X just fine.
It's a solid board, gaming oriented with enough control you don't really need the "X" BIOS or chipset. It's more than adequate for the majority, is good looking and a very good value. It's worth buying for the future when silicone becomes available again for RAM, GPUs at affordable levels, but I wouldn't buy one again anytime soon until that sorts itself out. I'd rather see dual USB 3.0 headers than dual M.2s, but that's just me.
This board, while a little outdated, is perfect for a first budget build. It's got the lights, its got 4 ram slots, AM4 ready. Only concerns I would advise on is the shroud at the top left hand corner might be an issue if you have a gpu with a larger back plate, i had trouble getting my rx580 in the top slot as it wanted to get snagged on the corner of this shroud, I got it in there but I was super careful not to damage the board, may not be beginner friendly in that aspect. Overall good board, would recommend to anyone 9/10
Bad bios updates on ASUS motherboards, my fist time purchasing an ASUS motherboard, i have been using Gigabyte motherboards since 2012, the bios updates on Gigabyte motherboards are much more dependable, ARMORY CRATE is a headache for ASUS, took this ASUS motherboard out of my build & replaced it with a Gigabyte B550 AORUS PRO, this ASUS motherboard sits in it's box in my closet now.
