This is a tasty and interesting product. 'Interesting' because the last time I ate Zatarain's Red Beans and Rice our daughter made it for a one of her boyfriends--I think he was the one our son called GiB Esoom or 'Big Moose'. He WAS a big guy--towered over everyone--he met a sweet girl from L.A. (lower Alabama) and (almost!) broke my 'baby's' heart! He loved red beans and rice with hot sausage so that's what our daughter made for dinner. I tried a couple tablespoons of Zatarain's but I thought it was too salty--I felt I'd be drinking water all night. Still, I thought it was a good product--easy to make and very true to the package directions and description. Last week I noticed the reduced sodium version in the store and I bought a box. I wanted to make beef sausage and I was bored with bland side dishes---wanted more 'zip!' We (my husband and I) really liked reduced sodium New Orleans style Red Beans and Rice. What a compliment to an otherwise fairly basic package of dinner style sausage links! Mild (but not too mild!) and the beans/rice steam beautifully once they've simmered and been covered.I would recommend making this dish on the stove top--but that's just me...-'Reduce'(sodium) more beans and rice-please!
good work [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
Love Red Beans and Rice but the regular stuff is too salty so this reduced sodium is just about right. We used to eat the regular one but lately it is way too salty but maybe someone mistakenly dumped the whole salt shaker in by accident.
love this, when it is in stock. I can't eat the one with full amount of sodium.
Excellent
This product is very tasty and very easy to prepare. Just add sausage, it's very filling. This inexpensive product is perfect for dinner. Enjoy!!!
the price is absolutely ridiculous. $18 for 2 boxes is insane. i love this product, but I'm not able to afford a product that just 3 years ago was only $3. I was shocked, i can barely afford reasonably priced food, (fixed income) let alone food that has been price gouged like this. To whoever makes up the prices, you should be ashamed. Merry Christmas 🎄
Have tried to regular Red beans and rice, found it way too salty. Found the reduced sodium version and was expecting less salty flavor. Unfortunately, this version is also way to salty. Should be reduced by at least another 50%. At 450mg for 1/3 cup, this is still not healthy.
the price of 9.95 or 10.95 is way out of line WALMART!! these are worth way less than half what is charged here. less then 2.50 at the other major website when in dozen cases. WAKE UP WALMART
