I’ve use this radar detector for the last couple of weeks, taking it in at work & home at night, in 2 different vehicles and it works great. Extremely portable which was a great selling point, no wires or plugs to worry about. Highly recommend this product!
This RD is exactly what I need for my daily commute to work driving through 4 towns with 30 MPH speed zones and 55 MPH highways in between. I have gotten excellent response time on all of my radar encounters. I am impressed with Ka Band performance for a cordless unit. And the best part is I can mount it on my visor - no vibration and easy to reach and see. This unit looks cool too. Plenty of alarm volume when you need it with the stereo plugging away. The batteries are a piece of cake to change and the unit is frugal with batteries!
I love it . It already saved me it's cost when I was distracted and didn't notice the speed limit reduction. This little gem picked up instant on radar just far enough away for me to avoid a costly ticket. The cordless ability makes it easy to swap cars, etc.

Great detector, as effective as any I have had. I like the convenience of cordless and the confidence of escort. It can support an optional smart cord, however two AA batteries last quite a while- 12 plus hours on original batteries. I would have liked it a little smaller in size and if it had built in rechargeable battery vs AA, other than that it is a great model.
I have only used the unit one time. The radar/band detection function, performs very well but two things could be improved. The program buttons are too small for easy manipulation and the quality of the "bracket release" mechanism is far inferior to the previous S4 that I owned. In fact, when removing the new detector from the bracket, the "release button" requires multiple attempts as the button does not feel as if it is working at all. Quite frustrating.
Just started using it. Appears to be quality radar and laser detector. I have to see if I can program it to stop peeping for every automatic door opener. I like not having the cord until it beeps too much. Still I would recommend it. I've owned many Escorts and it takes a little time to get them figured out.
NICE COMPACT SIZE AND HANDY FEATURES. I LIKE THE FACT THAT IT IS CORDLESS. NO GPS OR WI-FI AND THE MOST ANNOYING FACT IS THAT IT DOES NOT FILTER OUT FALSE POSITIVES, SUCH AS THOSE FROM NEW CAR RADAR. ALSO UNIT DOES NOT AUTOMATICALLY MUTE THESE FALSE POSITIVES AND SOUNDS ALARM CONSTANTLY. SEEMS TO ALSO SHORTEN BATTERY LIFE. CONSTANT REPLACEMENT OF BATTERIES IS EXPENSIVE AND OVER A COUPLE OF YEARS THE TOTAL COST OF OWNERSHIP WOULD PROVIDE A MODERN UNIT
This new Solo S4 is still large, it would have been better to be smaller than the S3. Also, other detectors have filters for other vehicles' on board radar like adaptive cruise control, etc. But new Solo S4 doesn't filter those out, so still plenty of false alarms.
I'm an escort customer for more than 20 years. Recently purchased my 5th radar detector directly from your site (new solo 4). I'm really disappointed it's garbage. I want to return it. I purchased it because of the wireless option. Don't know why it would have less range than the others but it really has no range. The detector goes off when it's literally in eye site of a police vehicle. I'm not a stranger to escort products and know how to set them up properly and position them properly. I'd like to return it and trade up-purchase the top model.
