This ball is the same type and quality that is used in JR. ball games! Nice Football
Real leather football. High quality.
Played QB in high school and college, this ball is a mini version of the official game ball I played with years ago. It feels and handles the same as the Wilson 1005 game ball we used in high school, junior college and D-1AA. It will take some breaking-in; playing catch on grass(only) until it turns a darker brown. Don't use a brand new ball in wet conditions. Regarding the previous reviews, if they even played football past junior high, it probably wasn't a skill position. To be clear I bought my current football a few years ago (still in good shape) so maybe the quality is different. But if it hasn't changed in the last 20 years, it probably hasn't changed in the last few. I came across the previous reviews and as someone who grew up playing with Wilson footballs, I had to say something. If you want your child to grow-up being accustomed to the feel of a high school/college game ball then buy this ball.
Great product, real Leather, grip technology and super durable
The TDJ is the correct size for 5th grade youth football. This composite ball has a very good "tackiness" to it that gives a good grip for throwing and catching. It appears to be very good quality for an excellent price. The leather version of this ball seems more "slippery".
I bought 6 of these balls for our youth football association and 2 of the TDJ GST Composite footballs. These specific balls are horrible quality. They are extremely slippery even when dry. We wish we had purchased all composite. They are even fading and die or something coming off when wet. They did not even look new when we bought them. Would not recommend.
Bought 6 4 weeks ago. 4 of the 6 won't hold air and they all are too slippery for the kids to handle. Very very poor quality.
