This radio is exactly what I wanted. The siren goes off when an alert is issued, which startled me out of bed the night I got it! For us, this is a "must have" item.
Performs as advertised. Good sound for such a small radio - whether WB, AM, or FM. Sound is adjustable on Weather Alert. Walmart should stock these in their stores rather than just on-line. Tip: Use a thin bladed table knife to help you insert 4 AA back-up batteries. Tricky otherwise.
i am pleased so far with this radio. the size the tone and the price. love it.
It's small & compact so will be good to take camping. Easy to operate. The only thing I don't like is when the alert goes off, you have to manually switch from the alert band to the weather band to hear the alert from weather service. That was not mentioned in the product description
Do not waste your money on this radio. I saw where most of the reviews on this radio were negative, but hoped I would be a lucky one. Not so. The review regarding the placement of batteries is true. Horrible design with batteries on top of each other and you have to try to hold the springs for the battery above, out of the way at the same time you are trying to hold the springs back for the battery you are trying to get in. The radio I received (site to store) would not come on unless you pressed down and held down on the on/off switch, in the on position. The switch must have been bad or bad solder connection on the circuit board. I did not expect much for the price, just a radio to use at work. I sent it back and got the Emerson RP6251 that WalMart carries in their store for around $20. It has a variable weather band, but no alert feature. There is NO comparison in the quality difference between the Emerson and the First Alert (Sima) The First Alert has no quality, and mine didn't even work.
