Thought I'd use this only for camping adventures, but with the smart controls and simple design I've found it useful for so much more: beers and the trailhead, getting groceries without worrying about going home, packing a picnic and even emergency use when the power was out at the house for 24 hours after a storm. Love this thing! SO MUCH better than ice in a cooler where everything gets gross, wet, squashed and mixed together.
This item isn't too big but just the right size for multiple days worth of food. Sure beats eating junk out of a truck stop [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
I under estimated how much I would enjoy not having to buy ice. This cooler has been great for camping and also tailgating this fall. My wife has also been using it to keep her grocies cold when she goes to the store.
I picked this fridge up due to its slim size to fit under my sleeping platform in my van. It has been humming along perfectly for about a month now with no issues! It's completely silent, so it doesn't disturb me while sleeping literally on top of it. The phone control feature is awesome, allows me to turn it on before getting to the store to pre chill it without having to pull over and slide it out from under my platform. About the perfect size for 3 days worth of food for 2 people.
This is our third dometic CFX and the smallest one we own. We keep it in our Subaru Outback permanently. Perfect size for the back, and because of the size it cools down extremely quick, like, on the way to the grocery store quick. My wife is a foodie and often goes to 4+ grocery stores to get whatever it is she's on the hunt for. This keeps all perishables cold the entire time while she's out driving around without having to stop by the house each time to run to the fridge. It's the perfect size to remove and take out as a seat when camping, throw in another friends vehicle, or hike it down to the beach and use the PLB battery they also make. Literally beats a cooler any day of the week. I'll never use ice again.
I have been using my CFX 35 for over a year now in my Jeep and have been extremely happy with it. I am extremely hard on the gear that is in my truck and it has held up very well. The wifi is a great feature for controlling the temp wirelessly from the front seat.
I just completed a custom camper build in a 2008 Ford E150, and out of everything I built and installed, the Dometic CFX is my favorite! Having a real fridge that sips 12v power from my solar panels is the biggest luxury I can bring with me.
I store all of our backup meds in this cooler for the past 6 plus years. It has been plugged in the whole time and has yet to fail us. This is not a cheap low quality cooler with a 12v power supply. This is a well build refrig/freezer comparable to any quality domestic residential fridge you might purchase for your home. Highly recommend this machine.
105 on the trail, pull over to cool off under a shade tree and enjoy ice cream samiches. Haha Life just doesn't get any better than that. Thanks Dometic......
Pros: This item is mostly well built, it works well, has low power consumption and low power cutoff; has LED indicator lights for performance and temperature; has a light inside - all nice features. CONS: all the above are negated because the latch is flimsy and broke so it won't latch when you close it. It is practically useless now!!!
