First time at BuyDig.com - so far, BuyDig has been good [...] The 'Hamilton Beach Wave Maker 10 Speed Blender' arrived in it's original packing and over-boxed for shipping with appropriate padding. Just used it to (attempt to) make guacamole. Soft, over-ripe avocados? No go... The blades don't come close enough to the jar and just make an air space to spin themselves in. I scraped and pushed but it just kept cavitating. Annoyance! Solution - the jar from my old blender fit... Dr. Frankenstein strikes again! If you have an old 'Hamilton Beach 10 Speed Model 50200' like mine, this should work for you, too. If not, imho, I hope you like smoothies 'cause that's about all it's good for on it's own. When I got to the bottom of the box while breaking it down for recycling, I finally found the directions! Wondered where they were.... Turns out, this thing needs 1 cup of liquid to operate properly. I'm happy with BuyDig; not so happy with FedEx _or_ Hamilton Beach, though. :-(
Note: Mdl # 50167 & 50163 Seem to be the same mdl. They are identical in every way......so.... I'm doing nothing but Smoothies with this. It does do a great job at this. I place a little KALE into them on occasion and it blends them into very fine particles. Carrots, apples etc. fully juiced so to speak. Given that, the only thing wrong with this blender is that there's only 2 speeds. Hi and Low basically. Pushing the buttons going up thru the speed choices there is no audible or visual sense of speed change at all. Just fast and Slow. Other than that, I like it. I bought it for making smoothies and I make 3-4 per day and its VERY easy to clean, a big plus for me. So it does what I bought it for.
First use, blending 1 cup of ice with 1 cup of water and loose dry ingredients to make a Herbal Life shake, instantly made a loud noise then started with burning smell. Quick shut it off and unplugged, removed pitcher from base and the bottom section of the pitcher that couples into the base, that joins the blender base to the pitcher and makes the blade spin, was completely stripped and fell off. No way to reattach since it was stripped. Total design flaw rendering the blender useless, returned immediately for refund. Additionally the blender does not match the photo, photo shows the base with buttons to select speed, blender arrived with a single knob to turn and only can select a couple speeds. If I could give it zero stars I would.
