I was looking a large capacity wine/beverage center for our game room and this was perfect. I was going to pay more for an option with a blue LED light in the higher end models and when I got home I was surprised to see that it has the blue LED light! Really a great value.
I bought the beverage center for use in my office, its an excellent value especially for a home bar or office. Keeps all of your beverages cold and looks great. Plus there is a really neat blue neon light that is kind of 80's retro. Please note, don't buy this if you are looking for a fridge for anything other then beverages, it is not designed for food products. But if you are looking for a great way to keep you soda, juice, water etc., nicely chilled, its perfect and for the price you cant beat it.
I've had this product for about two weeks now and I have to say I'm very glad I purchased it. We replaced a small refrigerator that we were using to keep Soda cool in our theater/game room. It was still working fine but this beverage center is so much better for our purpose. It stores a ton of soda and keeps it nice and cold. On the medium setting it cools a soda can to 47 degrees so if I wanted colder soda I still have half the dial to go colder. Other reviews have said that this product is very loud but I disagree. It's not silent and I wouldn't expect it to be. It's a refrigerator! It's going to make some noise but I think it is very quiet and does not affect movie watching at all. The racks could be a little better. The soda cans stand up fine but the rails on the racks could be a little closer together. With that said the racks still work just fine. I had to reverse the door on mine and that was pretty easy. I did notice that if you didn't get the hinge adjusted correctly the door seal may leave small gaps that could let the cold air out. This could account for other reviews saying that their beverages didn't get cold or that the product was running all the time. On a final note I checked the electrical usage of this product and with a full load of soda, on the medium setting, it uses about .5 kwh per day. In my area this amounts to about 7 cents a day to run it. I think that's very reasonable.
Thanks SDBrewmaster and OldSailor for the temperature adjustment tip. I was reading the reviews while I was in the store and I even removed the display unit's knob just to see if I could locate the screw that needed to be tweaked. Sure enough, it was just on the left hand side. A few hours after I plugged the unit in the temp got down to around 44 degrees. I removed the temp knob and turned the screw to the right with a small phillips screwdriver as a couple reviewers advised. I adjusted it a couple times, after leaving it alone for the night the temp read 25 degrees. So it doesn't look like there is anything inherently wrong with the design, for some reason Haier is shipping these units with the incorrect temperature setting though.
A little loud as other reviewers said so we put it in the dinning room. During the day we can hardly notice it after a while. Humming noise at night so not a fridge for your bedroom. The temperature is perfect for storing vegetables and fruits which does require higher temperature than a typical fridge temperature. Many vegetables need around 55 F (or 12 C) to keep from freezing damage so not only it solves the problem of over-crowded fridge, it also helps preserve vegetables and fruit in a better condition. We only use the lowest shelf for wine and all other spaces for vegetables and fruits. Great value as other places sale similar item for double the prices.
I have had this beverage fridge for about a week. Overall we are pleased. Don't get discouraged when you pack it full as it takes about 18 hours to really cool down the drinks. Yes it is a bit loud (humming/buzzing sound) when the motor is running. That seems to be a common complaint with all this types of coolers. I think you get used to it. For the price you can beat this one. We intend on keeping it.
The "Cooler" was delivered with a ding in the top left corner of the door and that area of the door would not seal. I worked on the door a bit to get the door to seal properly but this was just the beginning of my issues. Next issue is temperature, with the dial set to max the best the fridge would do is 42 degrees hence the name "cooler" if you like your drinks cold as I do you are going to be disappointed! There are instructions on the web on how to get your temps lower but why should you have to do this at all! My next issue is the racks, they are flimsy at best. I put two six packs of bottles on the middle shelf and just opening the door causes them to fall. I lost two bottles to shattering against the floor before I made Plexiglas shelves to replace the cheap wire racks. While I did buy this "cooler" on sale for less than $100 from Sam's I feel even at that price this is not a bargain. I would not recommend this to anyone!
This is a very attractive product for use at an inside bar. It fit well under the counter and the blue LED cast a nice glow on the contents. We were quite satisfied. The reviews on the temperature are a little harsh. No, it doesn't freeze your beverages, but it does keep them plenty cool. We were shocked however to come come from work and find the interior pane of glass in the door had shattered. No sign that anything has fallen over inside to cause it, and there was no apparent point of impact. It literally looked as though the glass pane had just spontaneously broken.
Don't know why I did not believe the reviews, probably the low price, super cheap for 150 cans. Anyhow, I followed the instruction manual. Turned on the cooler for 24 hours on medium, switched to max cool for the next 24 hours. Placed thermometer in the empty cooler and temp was a whopping 48 degrees. Too warm for my beer. No wonder why the sticker on the front says it is not for food storage. TOO WARM. Returned.
Waste of my $$. It does NOT keep beverages cold. Cool at best. That's it's ONLY function and it doesn't do it. so..... It is also a little noisy. I could probably get used to that if it kept beverages cold but, it doesn't. So, the noise is just an unplesant reminder that it's there and I wasted my $$.
