I received my transfer cable faster than i expected - within a few days. I followed the directions which were very simple and voila! all the data from my old computer is now on my new one. I had tried transferring my pictures using a data stick - and it worked - but it didn't carry over the folders or the info I had labeled them with (Christmas 2001). What a mess! This product moved everything in their folders with their labels. I can't say enough. Thank you Walmart and Belkin!!
I bought this to transfer files from my Windows XP to new Windows 8 machine. It was quick and easy, and much cheaper than paying a service to do this. I would recommend it to anyone. It does require both computers be on at that same time and using screens with both, so I had to switch my monitor several times, but that was a small hassle.
Transferred my files from my old Vista pc to my new Windows 7 PC in 4 hours for 98 GB of data. Instructions and set up disc was excellent and very easy to follow. Transfers files only and not programs/applications. My network did not allow the transfer and you needed to have Windows 7 on the receiveing PC.
I upgraded from a windows vista to a new windows 7 computer. The belkin cable did exactly what it was supposed to do. I had no issues transferring data. I had almost 50gb to transfer and it did it in less than an hour. My old computer, at first didn't want to install the disc that came with the cable, but on 2nd try it did. After that, smooth sailing. I recommend it to anyone. Faster than doing to a disc(s) to transfer.
Hard to believe but this little attachment loaded everything of value from my old Windows XP machine to my new Win7. Included all my Document files and Internet Explorer favorites.
This is exactly what I needed to transfer all my photos, music and documents from my old computer using Windows XP to my new one using Windows 7. It was easy and didn't take very long at all. I started the transfer, went out to walk the dog, then about 35 minutes later I came back and it was finished!! Voila'!
IF you have a new PC or laptop this product can be your best friend. In three steps, you can setup and transfer your existing files to your new PC in a snap. You have the option to choose what you want to transfer. This is the second time I used this type of product. I do not know what I would do without it!
My product arrived ahead of time, and was put away until ready for use. This unit has all the options to transfer documents, Internet files, photo's and more. I have never used one of these devices so it took a few times to get it ready to work. Once that was figured out it worked like a breeze. There are other brands, but I'm more familiar with Belkin products. I had other choices but I chose Belkin for its reliability.
As I recently purchased a new Laptop with Windows 7 as I don’t want any thing to do with the Windows 8. (8 wouldn’t accept my use of previous “Microsoft” software and data that I was dependant on. (Vista) Not without a costly and expensive fix.) The cable took care of all of my data transfer in a matter of minutes. I was very pleased with the results. I returned the new PC containing Windows 8. Thank you very much!
I kept getting an error message indicating a hardware "recognition" issue. When I attempted to contact support with the information given with the instructions, I received a message saying the page did not exist. When I went to the Belkin web site, the contact/email given always returned me to the support page, i.e. a loop. End result, it didn't work. I returned to Walmart.
