I have a very large yard with over 1,000 feet of wire that was installed several years ago. I was surprised at how easy it was to use and it helped me locate each of the breaks successfully. I repaired them one at a time and then located the next break until everything was working. Highly recommend.
Everything provided in the kit worked together to locate the break and repair the damage. The instructions along with the video on the Petsafe website were extremely helpful in using the kit to find the break.
Ran over my yard with an aerator, hoping to miss the wire.....guess what, hit it somewhere. No chance in finding it manually, but did a search and came up with the solution of using the Wire Break Locator. I was skeptical, but had no choice. Once the unit was received, I did the assembly, took all transmitters outside, hooked everything up, and in 15 minutes found the break, and fixed it. No problem! Follow the instructions! If you lose the signal completely, you now have 2 breaks. Fix the one you found, and move on, or go at it from the other end. One direction has a intermittent tone, the other a solid tone, easy to hear, easy to figure out which is which. Think through how this works and you will understand the process, it's easy!
I had a possible two locations of line breakage. Using this device I was able to find two breaks and mend the break.
I purchased this a few weeks ago and used it the day I received it, found the wire break in 10 minuets. Works great !
We have about 1000 ft of underground fence and recently had a break. The Wire Break Locator saved us hours of looking for the damaged spot. The instructions were clear and easy to follow. After we had the Locator set up it took only about 15 minutes to find the break. It was not in a place that we would ever have expected and the wire did not even look damaged. We cut out the bad section and reconnected with the wire nuts and gel caps included in the kit, and all is well again.
It took roughly half an hour, maybe a little longer, to get everything set up to start, and about 15-20 minutes to actually find the break. The price could have been a little cheaper, but it still beat having to dig up the wire all the way around, or paying someone else to do it. We're definitely keeping ours in case another rodent decides to make a hole right where the wire was burried.
This product is VERY easy to use i just follow the instructions Bam Done i have clay in most of my yard so with the frost in winter i get breaks about every 4yrs from the ground shifting. very easy to set-up and works, found break in 10mins Anyone can use this!!!
The wireless fence was indicating a problem with the wire and this was only way to find the break. The instructions and on line video were helpful but I couldn't find the exact point of the break. You have to the change in the sound. Sounds simple but it wasn't. I ended up replacing a section of about 40 feet which I narrowed down as the problem area. It worked but a couple of weeks later and I'm getting the wire break signal again. And again I can't pinpoint the break. But it does make it easy to locate the old wire. Wish I could have rented it.
Very difficult to use. Spent a whole afternoon trying to find the break in our fence. The radio kept playing music, unable to find a station with static.
