Took about 15 minutes to install once I figured out the wiring. Setting up the Wi-Fi and app on 2 phones was simple. Used carrier/Google search to find the wiring conversion. Much easier to control than the original carrier controller.
Replaced 14-year old Honeywell Thermostat with the Honeywell Home RTH6580WF Smart Thermostat. Dimensions are same which made it very easy to install without any painting or drilling holes in wall. Printed installation instructions are easy to follow. Watch video for visualization on installation. Unit works very well. Really like the remote control function. Impressed so far!
I have had my new thermostat for several days now and so far, I am well satisfied with it. It was easy to set up. I am retired and spend most of my time at home. Setting up a schedule was easy for me.
I had to have a professional set up for safety but it looks similar to my old thermostat with now the benefits of being smart. I would recommend this product. Price of this product is reasonable and better than what is now out there. Simple instructions for set up. But for installation for a novice like me had to hire a professional for my safety.
Thanks to my utility company I received this product free of charge. I certainly appreciate their efforts to provide a unit that touts efficiency. I wish the unit had a featured icon for the filter. Programming was fairly easy however, connecting to the WiFi is time sensitive. If you exceed the time limit you will have to remove the unit from the wall plate and wait 30 seconds then reattach to resume the process. Removing from the wall plate is not clear in the manual. You must rock the unit from side to side to remove from the wall plate. The WIFI features are a really nice plus.
I knew my hot water system with the 2-wire Honeywell Round thermostat would need a 'C' wire. So wasn't I pleased when the box on the WIFI thermostat said "C wire accessory included (see photo). After two calls to Customer service, it turns out the "accessory" is a jumper wire. That's it. 2" of 20 ga wire. Disappointing to say the least. The label is misleading - calling a stub of wire an accessory, borders on untruthful. Looks like I'll be returning it.
I bought this thermostat and installed it in my garage in February or 2021. I use it to turn on the heat remotely ahead of working in the garage. It worked well for the remainder of 2021 and through the succeeding winter. When I checked on it in September of 2022, it was non-responsive. I connected it to the control board of my home heating system (to eliminate possible wiring problems in the garage) and pronounced it dead when it showed no signs of life there.
The software contantly loses connection with external servers, making it useless. There is absolutely no reason this should communicate outside the home network unless explicitly opted in, as it's a ridiculously unnecessary breakpoint, security gap, and likely cover for collecting private data, aka spying. I need a refund.
I bought the first through electrical supplier event. That one failed to reconnect to WiFi after six months of use. Bought second and this one lasted maybe a year. Junk don’t buy. Now not supported. My guess is They stopped support so stopped working.
Purchased once in Aug/2019. No issues setting up the TCC app and IFTTT applets. Moved in Jan/2020 and chose to purchase the exact same thermostat. Seems that IFTTT support ended (see reddit - I am not the only one). Not worth it as a Wi-Fi only thermostat.
