I bought this for one of my cats that always seems to have long claws no matter what. But it was so loud after the 1st claw was cut, he was too scared for me to do even one more claw. I took him to the vet for them to do it and to show me how to with this clipper. They said the best thing to use would be plain old toe nail clippers and just clip right above where you see pink in the claw. So, my suggestion...buy a good pair of toe nail clippers and you'll be set.
