Blu-ray, with enhanced audio and remastered images, makes this product a must-have for all true Star Trek Fans!!!
Excellent Video and Audio of possibly the best season of the original Star Trek TV series. With choice of original graphics or enhanced CGI graphics. Completed my Star Trek collection with the difficult to find Season 2 on Blu-ray.
I'll keep repeating the same review when it come to TOS on Blu-Ray. The only thing to compare them to, is the very first time you saw each episode on TV. Beyond impressive.
I grew up watching the original Star Trek and had the great pleasure of being in Star Trek: The Motion Picture in 1979. It's great to have the series remastered and on bluray to enjoy any time I want!
The package arrived quickly and in excellent condition. The discs all played perfectly.
I've waited a long time to see the original episodes in HD and they generally look great. My gripe is with the computer-generated footage. As a purist, I would prefer to exclude it from these sets altogether. In watching the Season One Blu-Rays, I had no trouble toggling in to view the original versions, but in this Season Two set, even though I select the original version, I'm forced to view the first few seconds of each episode with the phony computerized shots. Has anyone else experienced this? Perhaps it is a shortcoming of my player, but I doubt it. Also, some episodes play with the phoney re-recorded theme song, which I don't want to hear.
The restoration of these episodes and the updated special effects are terrific—Trek never looked this good when it was originally broadcast. The only reason I ding this release one star is because of the packaging. For this price, Paramount should have included at least the sort of descriptive brochure they did on the DVD set. Also, the discs aren't labeled with their content: you need to pull out the package label (yes, remove it from the case) to see what's where. Considering all the detail that went into the actual discs, these omissions are pretty dismal. Walmart's fulfillment time was GREAT (as always).
