im using this instead of a baby gate on my daughters nursery. i can open the door a crack to check on her, and no cats can make it through the small opening. great purchase im goad i biught this.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This top of the door lock was very helpful to keep my young boys out of my bedroom during the day. It was easy to install and very easy to use. I would recommend this to anyone that needs to keep their kids or pets out of a room!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Nora loves playing in water and toilet water is not off limits. Thanks to Top of Door Lock I no longer have to worry about her sneaking into the bathroom. Even if she tries to open the door she can't fit through the small opening this locking mechanism creates. The system is easy to install and the directions are straight to the point. It is best to secure the screws for this locking system with a power drill.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This door lock is phenomenal! Sorry that I couldn't show it in use but it is great. I put this up as extra security because my twins have figured out how to turn the lock on my door and semi turn the handle so I am afraid they may open the door without my knowledge sometime in the near future. It's easy to install but does require drilling so it is a semi large commitment. It can be moved to permanent unlock position when not in need. It has a safety measure to avoid finger pinching. This attaches to the top of the door to prevent children from reaching. Easy to see lock and unlock symbol to know when placed in correct position.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love how easy to use this product is! My little ones have figured out how to get into closets they aren't supposed to be in! So I definitely needed back up!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My 20-month old is into everything and this door lock has been a life saver! We installed it on our kitchen door that leads into our sunroom, so the little trouble-maker can't get out on his own, slam the door on his fingers, or lock us out while we're outside (which he's done!). It is easy to put in place and uses adhesive with optional holes to screw it in more securely, which saves us from unnecessarily damaging the door. We're planning on purchasing more for the bathroom doors as well, they definitely work!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have a 2 year old and this has worked well to keep her out of certain rooms that don't have door locks. I like that it can be placed as high as you like on the doorframe so I can keep it still accessible to my older children. The adhesive has held up well so far. I haven't screwed it in since I'd rather not leave any holes. The only downside is that it's a bit on the bulky side and not very attractive to look at, however, most child safety devices aren't.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] FTC: I received this item free from BzzAgent and Safety 1st in exchange for my honest review. The Safety 1st Top of Door Lock was just what we needed for our toddler! Install was a little tricky, even with using the guides (you will have to adjust based on your door and proximity of the door and door frame to each other so I would recommend using Scotch tape before officially peeling the backings as the adhesive is very sticky and there is no extra should you need to readjust. It also comes with screws for added securement). Once we got everything lined up how our door needed install was quick. We use it on our front door for extra security, it almost works as a chain link door latch. I've already recommended it to a couple friends that have toddlers.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Full disclosure: I hate adhesive, and hardware installation seems almost worse. I don't like these types of products (child locks, safety latches, etc) in general, and the Safety 1st Top of Door Lock was no exception. I'm sure it has its place, but it's just not for me and my family. It's bulky, cumbersome, and inaccessible from the other side of the door. Doesn't work on inward-opening doors; must be on outward-opening side. Took a couple tries/mounts for me to figure it out and then realize it won't work on the door/side I had in mind.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I had high hopes of using this on the closet in our basement where our sump pump is. It's not a place I want out kids to go. When I opened up the lock the instructions were overwhelming. I'm not that great with putting things together. It did come with a template to help you place the lock which was nice. Unfortunately due to the design I couldn't use this on that door unless I wanted to put it on the inside and never go in again. It wouldn't work on many doors in my house for that reason. I'm sad I won't be able to stop my kids from getting in that closet with this.
