I purchased this serger as a fill-in while my “main” serger is out for servicing, as I had quickly gotten into withdrawal mode. The machine does a great 4-thread wide overlock, with no sputtering, snagging, skipped stitches, a tight differential feed, on a light to medium fabric. I'm very pleased!
This serger includes so many extras I was overwhelmed and I am a very experienced sewer I found a small local fabric store that taught lessons on sergers Now I am a serger queen! This serger was best purchase I have made in years
I'm an experienced sewer & have never owned a serger. I have always needed one & after some research my husband & I purchased this one. This machine was easy to set up & didn't take long with the help of the video to see how to use it. Don't forget to pull up the telescoping thread tree before you begin. I was nervous about threading it but the video helped & I was able to change colors pretty easily. I think the video could be more clear about how the lower looper thread goes over the upper looper thread but other than that it's been great & sews like a dream.
I have been sewing for many years (35 plus) but did not have an interest in sergers until the last 5-10 years. I was hesitant to use one because I would have to learn all its features by myself. The first serger I bought (non-Brother brand) worked ok but soon after purchasing, began having issues. There was no one to ask for help. When I finally took it to the shop because timing was off, shop said it was unrepairable. This certain shop was a Brother dealer and recommended I replace my old serger with a new Brother. I investigated all my options and brands. I came back and purchased a Brother for the features, price, and techniques dvd and book included with the machine. Having the techniques showed to me step-by-step really was the final selling feature for me. Additionally, I broke one of my knife blades b/c I left a pin in my material. The replacement of knife was easy, quick, and I was back to serging again immediately with no further adjustments or professional intervention. Definitely worth my investment on this product.
I love it....it's a great piece I don't regret adding it to my sewing room
This is my second Brother serger. It sews beautifully. I love how easy it is to thread. Having the slide-out on the lower looper makes a world of difference for the threading process. I also like the trim trap to catch the scraps. It's a big plus that it takes regular sewing machine needles. My only complaints would be that it seems rather noisy compared to my old machine, the foot pedal is plastic and seems rather fragile, and the machine has a REALLY,REALLY, RELLY hard time starting out. I always have to give it a little help to get it started.
Dear Madam or Sir, First I want to thank y'all for the help I received, it was 5 stars. First I noticed upon unpacking that there were some accessories missing, a quick call to a wonderful lady, a fax, and shortly after I received the items. Later I tried to use the machine and I found out the reason the material was jamming, not being cut, was that your assembly people somehow forgot to install the upper knife in my machine. Another quick call and fax, a few short days, and I had the knife installed and working great. I don't feel anyone should be reprimanded but a reminder to your assembly personnel to ensure all parts are installed correctly, and the team who sewed the test piece should have known the knife was missing. Again, though there was a problem with the assembly the help afterwards was great. The machine is working very well also, thanks. May your day have you say, I'm too blessed to be stressed. I've been wanting to purchase a serger for quite some time. I was kind of scared of not knowing how to use one. After deciding now or never, i got one. I love it! It was quite a challenge though, learning how to thread! Even after watching the video. (I dread running out of thread). Still have to learn to use all the functions of this machine.
This is the second serger I have purchased and am enjoying it very much. I really enjoy the east of threading it and the extra features. One thing I wish it had that it doesn't is a compartment to hold the accessories. First machine I've ever owned that didn't have one.
Love the machine but less than 60 days after purchase a part fell off on the inside now breaking inside needle and I can't use the machine as it is design to be used. Not a lot of support help from company
