I've had Xerox solid ink printers dating back to the 860 and I really love them. When it came time to replace my 8200, I naturally looked to Xerox for a solution. We purchased the ColorQube 8580 and are very happy with the features. The colors are vibrant, the print quality is excellent and the printer tackles projects with speed and accuracy across a network. As a professional photographer, I require my printed brochures to reflect my product accurately. The Color Qube 8580 does the job quite well!
I bought this printer to replace a 13 year old Xerox Phaser printer. It was easy to set up and start printing. I did have a problem with it working at first but I called Xerox, a service person came out the very next day and "tweaked" a gear that had moved (shipping?) and all was good after that. I love the solid ink bars - much easier to install and also to see the supply level as well! The printer is very quiet - takes a while to warm up out of power save mode but the printing is fast - the colors vibrant and true. I would recommend this printer.
This Xerox ColorQube is my third Xerox solid ink printer. I'm a believer. I love the whole solid ink feature -- so easy to replace ink. Although I did not opt for it, there's also a very nice deal where you pay a monthly lease-type deal, which is attractive to small businesses like mine. I recommend Xerox printer -- not flimsy like so many out there.
This is our third Xerox solid ink printer and they never fail to be amazing. They are workhorses, require almost no maintenance and can handle a variety of paper types with perfect quality and color everytime.
This is our second Xerox printer in the same family. We purchased an 8500 N in 2005. We got tired of other printers going through ink quickly and continuously breaking down. The 8500 N was like a rock, it just kept on performing for ten solid years. So, when you have something that works continue with it...so we brought the latest generation as the ColorQube 8580. Really pleased with the performance. What was excellent about our 8500N exists in the ColorCube 8580, only it is faster...so Xerox managed to retain what was good but successfully incorporate faster feed, more precise bring (as evidenced by small fonts being more legible). And it was so easy to setup, just a few minutes and it had replaced our decade old 8500N and was on the network printing. Very nice printer.
I don't normally take the time to write online reviews but this printer deserves a few minutes of my time. I previously suffered through 3 years with a horrible Brother printer. I purchased 2 but had 5 total as those two had to be replaced 3 times all together and they were ink hogs on top of that. I read the reviews for this printer and decided to take a chance and I AM IN LOVE! We print approximately 5,000-10,000 sheets a month and used to go through enormous amounts of ink cartridges along the way. This printer barely uses these amazing little ink cubes and the print quality is excellent, vibrant colors etc. I managed to get it setup but had to make one call to Xerox support after that it has been a breeze. I does take a minute to warm up but after it is a work horse. If you are tired of massive ink bills and poor print quality, I would definitely suggest this printer.
This is our 6th Xerox ColorQube product. We starting with two Phaser Model 850 about 10 years ago and have just retired them only because the ColorQube 8580 is much faster and supply usage is moderately reduced. Print Quallity remains consistantly excellent in every unit without any deterioration. Our ColorQubes are used to print direct mail letters including bar coded envelopes. Our clients tell us their business has increased substantially over their previous vendor and attribute a portion of that increase to the brilliant color we acheive in our printing operation making their letters stand out. This has led to our continued fast paced business growth. One note of caution: always use Xerox Supplies. So called competitive supplies will create major problems negating any so called cost savings.
Appears to be working. Printer arrived without documentation. Downloaded driver from site. After installation, the software asks for you to register the product. Received "invalid" serial number error. As with all solid inks, it does have a smell. Noises are different than the 8570DN.
Print quality is magnificent -- employs stochastic tech. Colors are rich even on 20# bond. Warm-up time for printing is too long -- even when leaving the machine on 24/7 to keep the "ink" in a molten state. And the fumes are starting to become a problem.
When my ColorQube 8570 quit working, I upgraded to a ColorQube 8580 since I had lots of unused ink. If my old printer would have still printed I could have printed a startup page and gotten a nice rebate on a new machine, but since it no longer would print - no rebate. This does not make sense - why would I replace my printer if it was still printing? The main issue I did not like was the noise of the 8570. I always had to put it on sleep mode to quiet it, then it took awhile to warm up. Reviews sounded like problem fixed in 8580. As long as bypass not used, it is very quiet, which is very nice. When bypass is used, it is very loud - like a grinding sound. This continues for a few minutes after printing is done. I use the bypass to print checks and I seldom print one check at a time because of the noise. I wait till I have a bunch of checks - then leave the room!
