This item was heaven sent! I have truly use it daily for one thing or another. I bought some beer battered fish from Sam's Club along with some crab cakes and had dinner ready in 25 min! (had to make some sides) I love the fact that I can kick some of this cooking oil out of my world. And keep my cholesterol levels in check. It is the next best thing to me! Everything cooked evenly for me. The fries, chicken, pizza and much more is so delicious. I was also excited about the cooking book. I haven't tried any of the yet, but will soon. Really wished I would have gotten one for my Mom. They are now all SOLD OUT (this brand and for now)! Get this if you are one of those people who are multi tasking and have a busy lifestyle! LOVE IT!!!
I love this air fryer. I made a meatloaf the first time I used the Big Boss. It was amazing good and so simple.
Love it so far! I've cooked Buttermilk Fried Chicken, French fries and heated up the fully cooked chicken strips in it along with other fries! I truly love the self cleaning job it does also I soak the basket in hot soapy water and it came right off all the pieces that I cooked with! The grease settles in the bottom of the pan and not in your stomach, lol! Healthier for you
I bought this for my mom because she can't eat fried foods. I cooked chicken in it and it looked and tasted just like fried chicken. I breaded it just like I do my normal fried chicken and everything. The only thing is, next time, I will cook at a lower temp to try to keep the skin from getting so dark. This is a wonderful product for anyone that wants fried food without all the grease!!!
I am not sure what is up with all the negative reviews but I purchased this Big Boss Oil-less fryer a few months ago for my mothers 59th birthday since she does a lot of cooking. So far, we have made french fries, tater tots, onion rings and chicken nuggets in it and I can honestly say this thing is the most wonderful machine ever! All you have to do is set it to the temperature that is recommended for what you are cooking, then turn on the timer and the light comes on automatically along with the fan. The results of the food turns out excellent as always but without the massive amounts of grease like a normal deep fryer and both me and my family think it tastes just as good. I love the fact this machine saves you money on your energy bills compared to the standard oven and plus its kinda fun to watch it cook. I also find it nice that it has a special safety feature that the oven will only turn on once the handle is down all the way. To get to the main point, I HIGHLY recommend this product to EVERYONE!
My first choice to cook was chicken tenders and Dill White Potatoes. I used bisquick, herbs, and milk to dip the chicken pieces into, and then covered them with corn flakes (preground). I cooked these in the basket on the top rack. On the bottom rack I had used a can of whole white potatoes dried in paper towels, then I brushed the potatoes with butter and sprinkled dill weed on them and put them on the lower rack in the cooker. Then I set the temp to 375 degrees and cooked it for 20 minutes and it was fantastic. I only sprayed the basket to keep the chicken tenders from baking into the basket. The tenders were so juicy it was wonderful and my husband and mother were crazy about them. The biggest surprise I had was how quiet this cooker was. I had one of the original Jetstream cookers when this was a new concept back in the 1990's and it was much much noisier. I love this cooker and I will look for a large cookbook for recipes for it. I will also use a lot of my own home recipes. We love it!
I've don't cook much and so far I've only made fries and chicken but everything came out perfectly. Crisp on the outside and tender on the inside. I am thinking of giving away a few for Christmas to my family. My sister never fries anything. She will put chicken nuggets and French fries in the oven for the kids and it just doesn't look or taste appetizing in my opinion. It just comes out too dry. So, I'm sure the Big Boss will be the perfect gift. She and her husband will be a lot more inventive with the recipes than I could ever be.
This cooker is awesome my wife has prepared pork chops, chicken, fries , sausage, bacon, stuffed peppers, cinnamon rolls, Cornish game hens. All great tasting. We wish there was a better cook book for regular family meals with pictures
This is a great alternative because I always hated the fact that in a traditional deep fryer, you either have to clean out the oil after each use (lots of waste) or you keep it in there which is just gross depending on the length of time between uses. But specifically my husband always preferred deep frying hot wings and I thought baking them was still great (much healthier too) but this is a nice in-between that we both agree with since we are trying to lose some weight. The only thing that I would complain about is that you can't fit much at a time when you are trying to "fry" an item because they have to be spread out on a single layer and its annoying to pull out each item at a time because they stick to the basket. :( Also I would suggest to create a medium height rack because there is a low & high rack and we thought that there should also be a middle rack as well. Even though we haven't used it yet for anything else since we only got it last week, but am excited of all the different features it has (including a wash setting!).
This product arrived we used it one time, it worked pretty good. Second time we tried to use it it would not work, NO HEAT. Called the 1-800 # provided with item left name # and problem received no return call. Called back after getting another 866# for Big Boss Items not including fryer, got service Rep. Amanda, who hung up on me as soon as I told her the problem. Called back and got Rep. named Bola who told me they would send me a new one. The Following Day I received a call back from Amanda stating we had to ship other one back first at our expense. Note: There is a notice that comes with that says do not return to Store purchased from. We took the Non Working Big Boss Fryer back to Wal-Mart and got a immediate Refund. I will not purchase any Big Boss items From Emson Enterprises again.
