I use this product to teach in my homeschool. I love the sturdiness/ durability of the product, the sound feature and map landmarks and pictures. The only thing that would add to this great product, in my opinion, would be if it came with a case to store it in.
Grandson 6 years old, loves it. Learned to recognize state shapes and the capitals. Was already singing the border of the US states. His 4 1/2 year old sister is also learning from it.
My daughter is a little over 2 yrs old and she loves this puzzle. My husband and I got this for her since she loves puzzles and thought it would be educational. I would highly recommend this product to anyone with children in the 3-7 yr old range! It is durable, interactive, educational and fun.
My 4 & 6 year old really enjoy this puzzle. My 4 year old requests to work puzzle over and over again. They have both picked up memorizing the states quickly and easily. The board is sensitive and will go off if you put wrong state on it, which is not a huge deal if you are working puzzle with them. The only thing I don't like is they combined several states(I.e KY/TN, SC/GA and all the tiny states together on one piece.) That is confusing to little ones as they don't realize they are different states as its all on 1 piece. That was disappointing
Love your puzzles, they are very durable and it is not a struggle to keep the pieces together. The only downfall I find with this puzzle is that all the states are not a separate piece. It would be more effective for education if they were all separate.
I understand the necessity to group some small states together but was disappointed that some larger states were cut into two pieces and grouped with other states. I hope my grandchildren will learn the states and their capitals when they play with the puzzle. I think it will be fun and educational.
Love the concept! As a teacher, i was disappointed that some state borders are on a differentpuzzle puece! also, the sound for the wrong state is activated if you put the piece in the wrong spot ( ie if the North Dakota puzzle puece is placed on SouthDakota, it will still activate the language)
I did not like that announcing the state and capital was after the puzzle piece was returned to its spot. I did not like that often pieces represented multiple states. No offense to some of the smaller states, but I did understand when some of them were together. However, it made no sense that Tennessee and Kentucky were one piece. This whole experience has soured me on Melissa & Doug products!
There is no top on it once you open it. Little pieces go all over the place.... Some States are not by themselves, sometimes attached to something else. Don't really care for it . I should send it back, I just don't have time to do it.
The cut outs should be more precise to the state (some are literally cut in half), and each piece should have a way to know the differance between the state. For instance if I put NC on TX it should'nt say "Texas and the capital is Austin". Otherwise, good quality product. Not cheap and will last through multiple kid's learning journies
