i installed the 5 1/4 component speakers in my open cockpit jet BOAT i mounted the crossovers in a sealed box for good measure. the the 51/4 were mounted under the seats and the tweeters were mounted in the centre head-rest. once wired i was blown i even had to turn down the bass. the speakers have been exposed to sun, water, even a little soap and the preferment is outstanding and rocks the lake. (head unit is the clarion CMS-1 marine)
i chose this speaker because of the look of speaker grille..it matches my car really well.. i am running this to 120watt 2 channel amp and tuned it real good..turned volume all the way up and i don't hear any distortion, no nothing.. bass wise, not better than rockford fosgate p seires..but that is not the point..my mono amp and subs are taking care of all bass..
I got lucky and found a set of these on sale... Turns out, they're well worth the standard price. Getting them to fit in place my stock 4x6s was a bit of a pain, but that was to be expected. Dremel for the win. ONE woofer/tweeter gets easily more than twice as loud as BOTH stock speakers with gobs of clarity that stock speakers can't touch. I have these in my dash, and they hit a little higher than the 6501s in my doors... The overall sound from the two is magical. I couldn't be happier --then again, I haven't amped them yet.
These speakers were great for the first 7 months that I owned them. Had them attached to a 2 way 100 watt amplifier. They reproduced sound like I have never heard before. I purchased them because of their power handling and their marine certification, because I have a two seater convertable. After 7 months though both midrange speakers stopped working at the same time. Fortunatly, I was able to get replacements from the dealer and I am back in business.
Love the woofers and teeters for the db5251 series but the cross over have too many problems the conductors keep coming loose, which makes the woofer stop working. I'm not the only one that's having this problem!
These speakers were AWESOME for the first about 6 months, then they started to sound distorted and it just got worse and worse after that until they blew. I only purchased them b/c my factory ones had seen better days. I am a female who DOES NOT listen to my music real loud, and there was NO reason why my 2 rear speakers should have blown only after right over a year and a half, not even with daily use. Not to mention the magnet on them is WAYYY too big for a Prelude and it made the trunk bar hit on the bottom. This was with a professional install from Circuit City and with a second opinion from World Hi-Fi Buys. VERY disappointed. Unless company decides to step up and back their product, I will never purchase from them again. Pioneer is my next step I guess. Guess I should listen to other people when they tell me to stay away from a brand and not always go with the "deals"
