Why am I writing this comment, for two years I wanted to buy this kit but because of the negative comments I was not encouraged to do so, now that I am exercising again I find it super easy to get home and prepare a milkshake in less than four minutes. I bought the kit more than a month and I'm going to tell you that it has never failed me obviously I follow the alignment and also the closing instructions with the arrow and it's extremely easy, I think that people who have a bad experience is for not following the instructions or do not have a machine compatible with this kit, my advice is not to take what others say and try to see if it works for you, A very happy customer
Use the cup daily for my morning smoothie! Hate that I had to spend more to have it. This really should be Included with the A3500 blender. But glad I bought it is a nice setup
I really do like this blender cup and bowl kit and use it almost every morning to make my breakfast smoothie. While it has worked for me just fine, I knew beforehand from reading/watching other reviews that there were some minor inconveniences that I would have to get figured out. The first was the issue of others not being able to get the cup attached to the base correctly so the machine would read it. The cup/bowl and base have tiny little, almost invisible, arrows on them to "help" you line the pieces up when twisting them together. The arrows are really not that helpful, and to make screwing the pieces together work better for me, I took the time when my kit first arrived to figure out exactly where I needed to line the base and cup/bowl together before twisting; where it actually begins to screw together. Once I figured that out, I used a black permanent marker to make a line on the clear pieces, and white paint (liquid white out) to make a dot on the black base. Then I line both the marks up and give the base a strong twist, making sure my white dot twists about 1/4-1/2 inch past either of the silver magnetic pieces in the rim of the cup/bowl. Doing this guarantees my machine to read my cup/bowl everytime. Now that being said, this could easily be solved by Vitamix and making the arrows more visible. The second inconvenience I have found is getting the base to unscrew from the cup after blending. Once the cup and base are sealed and the blender is used, getting a good grip on both the cup and base to unscrew them can be rather difficult, especially if you are blessed with smaller hands and/or lack of strength to unscrew tight fitting lids. The plastic cup has absolutely nowhere to to hold onto that has somewhere to grip it. The way I have helped myself with this is by using thick rubber bands to wrap around the top of the cup to help with grip. Again, Vitamix could easily help this by adding or offering something that could be used to help grip the cup better. Other than these two minor things, which is the reason I gave only 4 stars, I haven't had any problems that would inhibit me from using this kit and will continue to use it because it is very convenient to have different attachments that work well for a good blender. I do hope that these suggestions will be taken into consideration by Vitamix for any future updates to this kit. Until that should happen, I hope that these suggestions might help someone who is considering or may have just recently purchased this kit.
Blending bowl is useful for small things, like dressing for only a few servings. Doesn't work great for chopping only a few cloves of garlic. BIG learning curve to get the base unit to recognize the bowl. You have to tighten it extra WHILE it is on the base. The blending cup is less useful to me - I had wanted to use it for small amounts of "nice cream" but since you can't use a tamer with it, it's less useful.
Convenient and works well. We love it. Only issue I have is that I usually have to get my husband to tighten the blender base cap to ensure it's secure before blending. This might be because I have small hands but everything works great and glad we brought it.
This was a very disappointing purchase. The blade lid is super heavy and its almost impossible to take it off the blending bowl which is too small and oddly shaped. Blending cup is narrow and not the best. I do enjoy my regular jar however this additional purchase was a major disappointment, its an absolute design disaster in terms of size and ease of use compared to Nutribullet (thats what we use for daily smoothies and other small quantity blending needs). We decided to give away Nutribullet so we would have one machine that can do everything but this was a mistake. I would love to return this set but i am guessing its been over a month and now it just sits there without being used.
This tool is not worth the price. I bought it for purposes of making small portion nut butters or a quick shakes/smoothies etc. The blade for this tool is supposed to detect the base. NOPE... it doesn't always detect, by the time it finally does, I could've blended and washed the pitcher. So the idea of having this as a QUICK tool to make smoothies or shakes, is definitely not there. I'm not sure of mine is faulty, but it sure acts it. The customer service have given me points on how to use it- I have followed it..but it still doesn't detect as smooth as the pitcher.
This had amazing potential, but the design is terribly executed. In order to use it, you must tighten a threaded connection. Sounds easy, but it takes a lot of torque to tighten sufficiently for the blender to recognize and power on. If you have to open the cup to add more ingredients or water, it becomes much harder to tighten the blender base. Finally, the red gasket can gwt caught in the threads. If that happens, its near impossible to separate the blender base from the cup. That's the state of mine now. Don't be me, save your money until this is redesigned. For reference, I'm a relatively fit 32 year old male, and i bought this as a gift for my partner. It has stumped us both.
I was very excited to receive the blending cup & bowl starter kit. However the first time I used the blending cup, I was not able to get it to start. I googled for tips and found that it is very inconsistent if I can get it to work or not. I feel it would be very difficult for someone to use that has any diminished mobility or strength in their hands to try get the blade on and off. I will keep trying to figure out what works but I find it very frustrating so far. I have not attempted using the bowl yet.
What's the blending cup and what's the Bowl Starter? I haven't tried the thing for nuts. I don't expect I ever will. The other one was just too small. Things ended up spinning at the top when processing, avoiding the blades. It didn't work well. I wouldn't recommend this set.
