I was pleasantly surprised at the sturdiness of this product. It is a great value for the price and relatively easy to put together. I am a small person and put it together by myself. I can only imagine a second person helping would make putting it together a sintch.
I purchased this to store cleaning supplies in along with my vacuum cleaner. on one side i put the vacuum in and then i used the other sides for the adjustable shelves. it worked perfectly. it's pretty sturdy and matches my built in storage almost identically. it is very heavy, i had it shipped to my home with the $2.97 shipping.. i ordered it on a Sunday night and it was delivered on Wednesday. My husband put it together and everything lined up accordingly and there were no missing pieces or parts. I am thinking about getting another one to put in my walk-in closet for additional storage.
For the money this is a can't-be-beat value. I already had one of Sauder's larger units and really liked it so bought four of these smaller units to match it. These are all in our garage and really looks coordinated and takes care of the garage clutter which makes the garage easier to keep clean. They were shipped to Walmart and as they were quite heavy my husband had a young man help him unload them in our garage. He said putting them together was simple as the directions were easy to follow and no pieces were missing from any of the units. The units are heavy "pressed wood" (except the back of the unit is a heavy cardboard which IMO doesn't take away from the look or strength of the unit). Actually, made it much easier to cut a hole for access to the electrical outlet behind the unit in case we needed to utilize it. These little units aren't Ethan Allen but IMO are certainly acceptably attractive/sturdy. Very nice quality, and definitely met my expectations on value. Assembly was a lot easier than what I had read in other reviews and only took about 45 minutes to an hour. Instructions were easy to understand and follow. We only had a minor problem in getting the doors to align, but that was an easy fix in adjusting the hinges. The feature that I like the most is the adjustable shelves. By being able to do so, gives you the capability to arrange items in the way that is most suitable for you. I would definitely recommend this product to anyone looking for a storage cabinet. If you are looking for quality and value, this is the one to buy.
Bought this for usage as a pantry. The shipping was fast with standard. It actually came SO fast, before the estimated delivery date. I was very happy about that. It arrived in a very slim, VERY heavy tall package. I am petite so it was very hard to shift this around the house from front door to when it was completed. But I maneuvered it around on the box it came in, sliding it across the carpet. Would've been a little more difficult if I didn't use it. So I recommend keeping the box and putting it to use, if you're doing it all by yourself. I was worried the backing would be too light and flimsy, but it is of sturdy material and with all the nails in place it is securely fastened. Was kinda disappointed the very top shelf doesn't allow Larger Tall Cereal Boxes (Rice Crispies) but the other adjustable shelves allow for those kind of issues. I am a perfectionist and was hoping for no nicks or blemishes. Fortunately 99% of all the boards came PERFECT. The one nick came on 1-board which unfortunately is on one of the Front Doors. Ugh! But seeing as how it is the size of a lil' over a 1/4 inch, I relaxed and let it go LOL It fit in the space I wanted it in. Dimensions were to a T. Still smells great and of fresh wood. Thanks for the great product! Love it. (the picture included is of the final steps. Still had to put on the doors and the adjustable shelves, which took about 20 minutes mostly getting the door alignment perfect. Make sure you do that or there will be a gap in the middle. I recommend buying a couple small pads for the doors top/middle shelf. As they don't supply enough and there's a light sound when closing)
I bought three of these. They provided the storage we needed. Only one problem and that was putting the center divider in upside down. The shelving holes did not match up. The correct way is shown in the instruction but is easily missed. Look for the end with three holes in it. That is the bottom end. Otherwise pleased with the purchase.
Just recently purchased three different styles/sizes of the Sauder storage cabinets because I moved into a small apartment that does not have much closet space, so these work great, just wish they had a nicer "wood grain" appearance, not sure if they were trying to make a real wood effect here, but just doesn't look very nice. I was just too busy and these were too big to try and exchange, but all three were like this, see picture. I love using them though, they provid the storage space that I need!!
Product itself ok, delivery method horrible. Left at front door. The product weighs more than 125 lbs., had it been delivered to a senior or a woman, would never have been able to get it into their home without help. I myself had to take it apart in order to get it into my home as its too heavy. Recommend, more than one carton because of its weight.
I rate everything excellent however I would recommend that you would be home when the delivery is made. I ordered two storage cabinets and one of them had no problems. The other had damage to the exterior side panels which I assume was during shipping. It had scratches and chips on the panels. Again I'm sure this happened during the shipping and not at the manufacturers. It was too much trouble for me to take it back for replacement and wait for another. I guess I'll go to Home Depot and see if I can find something to hide the scratches but the chips I will have to figure something out on that to hide them. As I stated I would recommend this to a friend but please if the box looks crunched or scraped you've got problems.
I've put together multiple cabinets and shelves like this one the past 15-20 years. In fact, many years ago, they were all made by Sauder. This is my first disappointment. This large, heavy cabinet is only held together with long screws. It was too easy for the screws to lose the track and go instead through the side of the (particle board?) cabinet. This effects the structure and appearance of the cabinet and is almost impossible to fix or repair. It happened 4 times when building this Sauder cabinet! I prefer the particle board or MDF cabinets and shelves that are joined using those round locking things??? They never fail and have held up for years. I will never buy a Sauder product again!!
