At first I was worry about he camera not working is very lightweight, but I was wrong it take good photo. I can’t wait to take this camera when I travel or go camping. The lens extend a lot, the photos are good quality. It is very easy to connected to a phone computer to export your photo and post on social media. You just need to download the app canon camera connect, the what I really like was that the wifi from the camera was password protected, I have a very expensive camera and it doesn’t have this.
I first want to start off by saying how much I love this camera! It's small and easy to carry around. Small but powerful! I really liked how in live mode you can fully customize camera settings. The zoom on this camera is excellent. This was my first camera with built in wifi for easy transfer of photos. I had that set up in less than 2 min! I loved how you can take photos from the app. Great feature! The video quality is excellent. This little camera is just packed with so much power! The only thing I didnt like was not having an eye piece to look through for photos. It's a hard habit to break. Other than that this camera has everything I need to family snap shots, nature, or anything else you can think of. Great camera for beginners!
Nice light weight Camera. Easy to learn controls and the zoom is unbelievably fast. It came with lenses cover W/strap to attach to camera and a wrist strap. A battery pack and charger. There is no internal storage so you have to purchase a memory card. It recorded movies and has WiFi set up for your printer, iPhone, iPad, web services And more. The viewing screen is larger than most and I would purchase a camera case And screen protector just to be safe.
I have been a photography enthusiast for as long as I can remember...a shutterbug if you will. Apart from professional, I have probably owned every type of camera made since 1962 (my birth year) and back then it was not easy getting the "perfect" picture. Before digital cameras, point and shoot, cell phones, photo editing, wifi, etc., taking a halfway decent picture was a hit or miss process. (The struggle was real.) The zoom lens is perfect for taking great pics and video at my grandson's basketball games. With Wi-Fi and NFC connectivity, I can share the memories almost instantly with family and friends. The stabilizer feature is a godsend. I have Essential Tremor and it is extremely difficult to keep my hands from shaking while taking pictures. The features of this camera are incredible!
This camera (with a flash) is impressive in quality and size! It measures about 4 inches across and 2.5 inches high. Megapixels are 20.0. Optical zoom is 42x, has a lens cover, and captures great photos and videos. Transferring them to another device using wi-fi is a snap. Comes with a battery pack and charger. Does allow for an SD card although not included. Screen size measures 2(w) x 2.5(L). A tripod can be used although not included. Absolutely would recommend!
Where do I even start? I absolutely love this PowerShot SX420 camera!! The wide angle lense allows you to capture so much in one photo! Perfect for panoramic pictures. The 42X zoom capability permits you to capture so many things up close and personal. I tested it on some finished plating/ food dishes and it turned out so perfectly. Aesthetically, it is gorgeous. It’s a semi matte texture and not slippery at all. The texture allows you to easily hold this camera without worries of dropping it. Although it’s a power house, it is not bulky. It’s the perfect size; perfect for vacations and travel. You won’t have to worry about this camera taking up too much space or being too heavy. It’s not heavy at all. The camera has lots of different settings to appease whatever kind of picture you’re trying to capture. In closing, you will love it! It feels great in your hands and takes great pix!
This camera is state of the ar.t The resolution gives a real qualuty photo! There was no cord included but I just used a spare to hook up to my computer. This camera is rather advanced and I reviewed a you tube video to familurize myself with the proper way to use it. I am very pleased wirh the canon SX 420 and highlt recommend ir to everyone.
This is a great little camera. It's easy to use, lightweight, and has nice features. Out of the box I did charge the battery so I could begin use. The battery and charger are included. Unfortunately it does not include an SD card. I had to go out and buy one before I could use my camera. Once I got an SD card I was set. I took it on a trip to visit my grandchildren. I took pictures inside and outside. If lighting was too low indoors the camera let me know to pop up the flash. I even let two of my grandchildren use it a little bit and it was great. It was easy enough for them to not only take pictures but to take videos too. They are ages 8 and 6. They were able to figure out how to operate the zoom feature right away after brief instruction from me. This camera has great zoom capabilities. I used it to get close up pictures of deer that I would not have been able to take otherwise. One of the coolest features of this camera is that it has wifi capabilities built in. You can share pictures to your cell phone, tablet, desktop, or laptop as long as they have wifi capabilities also. I am one of the least technology savvy people around and I found it super easy to follow the camera guide book and set up the ability to share my photos between devices. I definitely would recommend this camera. Whether you are six or sixty (or older) it's a great little camera.
I am a retired photographer who grew up watching her dad develop film and print in his large darkroom at home as a hobby. I focused on studio portraiture, managed a custom darkroom, did graphic arts photography for a publisher, and freelanced. Well, growing up with my dad and a darkroom helped! Believe it or not, I was allowed to skip classes in high school to head for the school darkroom and took college classes in photography at night. I have photos I have taken dating back to when I was 7 years old. They used to put the dates on the white border of black and white photos you know? Mine started with the 1965 World Fair, I even have shots of flying over the location. It's a small world, from an airplane! I loved the smoke ring the best and the button! Still have that. I just could not leave film cameras behind until I got a small digital point and shoot at Goodwill in 2013. Cost-wise it made sense and it was a lot of fun even if it was sacrilegious and sacrificed so much quality. Oh, but I loved the ease of making movies from digital photos and videos put to my favorite music which is my second love. Digital now has come a long way in a short time. So I am going to try and translate what is so good about this Canon sx420 for you; it seems you can't go wrong with it. I can still fit it in my jean's pocket when taking walks in the mountains out in the middle of nowhere. It is only 2.72 x 3.35 x 4.11 inches! Or if you prefer, find a small case and clip it on your belt loop. After carrying around a Hasselblad system and working with Camerez Classics, and 35mm, weight and size mean a lot in your old age. Note: Simply put, this is much better for snapshots and much easier to hold and compose photos on than a cell phone. Cell phone cameras have their place... if you misplace your camera. Skip this one paragraph if you want to pass on accessories/filters: I went cheap for my first three digital pocket cameras with 8mp to 12mp image quality, even the jump between 8 and 12 made a huge difference in picture quality. This Canon is 20mp. OK, I foolishly spent hours looking for what size filters this took. Then thought I am getting forgetful, a lens equivalent to a 35mm focal length zoom of 24mm to 1008mm is going to vignette the edges with a filter sadly, but with the composition capabilities of this zoom lens I'll give up a UV and a PL filter. I first learned that all else considered, composition in photography is the number one thing to shoot for, literally! It was the KISS rule, Keep It Simple Stupid they called it. So ok, maybe I can use a step-up ring adaptor and just use all my good 35mm film camera filters on it. I kept my 35mm system only. Then after some searching, I found the only way it would not vignette the edges of a photo with this wide span of a size zoom lens, is with a step up ring to 67mm. Yikes, ok we'll pass on the use of filters altogether! I can do that for the sake of ease and composition and fun! Ok, it's all said and done, just shoot with it! Forget enough of the tech stuff, this keeps it in mind for you and you will take good photos with it no doubt. Did I mention the dimensions of this camera? 2.72 x 3.35 x 4.11 inches... Wow, it's small for such a great lens and the dimensions even include a nice little hand grip off to one side. I mean those flat little digital cameras and cell phones may fit in my pocket slightly better than this, but this is going to be much a much steadier camera to shoot with being so small and having that really nice hand grip. I may even be more steady holding it and shooting with it than my 35mm film cameras once used to it. But as the song goes, nothing will ever beat Kodachrome though. I have not shot any chrome film for quite some time now. I do not even own a slide projector anymore... I think. But this is so much fun! Got a slightly larger case for it for traveling, it will hold my second love too some of which is being held in an ipod which now owns a nice little Bluetooth speaker. So this camera walks in my pocket and goes anywhere in a padded case with its friends with music. Did I mention 20 megapixels picture quality? Did I mention that 24mm focal length lens is my most favorite size lens of all? The zoom lens starts at a beautiful 24mm wide-angle. Wide-angle shows a great sense of place whether I am taking a photo of a landscape, a cityscape, or portraits, a sense of place means a lot to me. Like my favorite family photograph at the Japanese Gardens in Ft. Worth each one of us standing on a stepping stone in the pond, it is such a favorite. My whole family spending the day in these gardens, the gardens are remembered well with a wide-angle lens showing us all up close in the middle of the gardens. Though golly, what is the other end of this zoom lens going to do? That 1008 mm focal length is going to do its best with the wildlife where I live. A bird lover would love this, I mean really love this lens. I mean who does not want to live a wild life or with wildlife eh? But my first love is a 24mm lens. Hold it level and you will never see any distortion but will see a lot of where the photo was taken, it's recording a lot into a photograph when using a 24mm lens. People love those long focal lengths, you've seen them at sporting events with 300mm lens and some even with a 500mm needing a monopod to hold it steady (a tripod with only one leg). They get a bit heavy for folks, you know? I am not into sports but wildlife will like this oh so versatile lens. For the price, you are getting a lot with this camera. It is not a pro camera but it will do anyone who just wants good photographs of their son's wedding. Though I never have chosen to own Canon equipment before, very many pros do. It's not bad at all, I just preferred others, until now. This is too small, too versatile, too packed with features all of which are fully automatic to not be liked for everyday photos! I just wish I had it for the fall leaves this year. During my days as a photographer, I also kept a collection of small miniature cameras just for fun snapshots. This is the end-all, this is it, this will last and be well used and more loved as time goes on. And well, it's a video camera too! Again making that side grip a great aid to keeping it steady! It also has what is called a stabilizing feature, meaning it can help some hands or feet that are a bit shakey. Learning to be still and breathe easily to take a photo may become a thing of the past. But always hold that shutter button that takes the photo down for longer than it takes to actually take the photo, it is a huge small thing to do to make photos sharper. So is leaning against a rock, tree, bench or car, etc. Keeps you steady and the photo sharper. Don't let your finger bounce that camera down and up while the photograph is being taken. Let it gently depress the shutter until it's all over. Focusing... Close focusing range of 2" I think it was? It also has macro focusing features, great for wildflowers! Your first homework should be how to do a focus lock. You want your kids to be in focus standing beside the Christmas tree a little in front of it, not so much the Christmas tree more in focus than the kiddos. Off-center subject? An easy focus lock will not focus in the center of the photograph but rather focuses on where you lock the focus. Depress the shutter button just real lightly, it locks the focus on whatever is in the center of the viewfinder. Then pan the camera moving the kids off center so you can also see the tree, keeping the shutter slightly depressed. Take the photo without releasing the shutter button. You locked the focus on the kids then moved the camera so it included the tree in the background and the kids off center a bit. You can keep the flash 'on' when taking photos of the kids in strong backlight situations like at the park on a sunny day, it's called 'fill-in flash' when you do that. Their faces are not like darkened shadows; a pro portrait photographer forces the flash on in a strong backlight situation so people's faces would light up when their picture was taken! Such an easy trick of the trade so many folks do not know. The same goes for you guys going on your next cruise! Lots of bright background/backlight on that ocean, it's bright! Force that flash 'on' to take that photo of your wife standing on deck in the shade, or better yet find a cruise guy to take it of you both with the flash 'on'. This camera will do a lot for you, and you can do even more with it if you so choose. It works both ways. Point and shoot or learn a little more as time goes by to make it even work better for you. Like the races? You can hold the shutter down and it will take a photo every two seconds, fast enough to follow that race car, horse, or horse-drawn buggy! That's the speed without the flash on. Try it with kids jumping into piles of leaves sometimes! Or your dog jumping into the lake. It weighs less than 12 oz guys, your girl will love it and so will you. It does well on its own or choose to expand its capabilities. It's all there and keep in mind what I have mentioned here are the basic features, you can do a ton more with if you want or just point and shoot and be happy. Be sure to design a good picture filing system on your computer. I do it by folders: Friends Family At My Cabin At My Camper Around Canyon De Chelly (vacation) Around GM (a mountain town where I live) Around Guffy (an interesting place) Around (wherever my next vacation leads) At the end of each year, you can easily sort your photos and videos by date, then copy them onto a DVD to play on your TV and don't forget copies for the kids or your folks. I was always running out of my battery from the start with my first little digital camera I took so many photos, I'd fill up the card too! They are worth every penny for an extra. Remember to transfer photos to your computer and then delete them from the camera's memory card so you do not transfer the same photo twice and have too many duplicates on your computer! Though some cameras will do that for you and this one will probably do so too. Haven't looked at that yet! Canon, I am impressed! Thanks! This camera is just okay. I was expecting better quality photos, at least comparable to my cellphone. I haven't had a point and shoot for 10 years and this is much better than back then, but I expected better. It's light but definitely not pocket size. I think the camera should be ready to use right out of the box. Can't take any photos without a memory card, so had to get one of those. Then, I couldn't get it to connect to my laptop by wifi or to my phone by wifi or NFC, so had to purchase a cable to connect to my computer (the cable needed is not a usual one so none of my other camera and phone cables worked with it). I think it should come with a connecting cable and have some internal memory to at least take a few photos before having to purchase a memory card. See my photos. The raccoon out on my porch I took with the zoom. Was hard to get the focus on the animal (focus ended up towards the bottom of the photo, not on the animal). The other raccoon photo was blurry, meaning the camera didn't stabilize the image. The other is my cat indoors with the flash, I cropped this one and quality was pretty good. I can only upload 2 photos, so can't show the forest shots that are dull and disappointing. Overall, colors are true but not very bright. My cellphone does better.
