Have only used this DLX Broadcast SPREADER W/ Edgeguard 3 times and plastic agitator that spins in the hopper broke can't find the part on website!
Bought new in spring of 2023. Used twice. Convenient controls. Very disappointed with application of fertilizer. Both times I used it I had green lines in the yard. It makes stripes. Over application of fertilizer where the spreader rolls on yard. Returned to store and ordered another brand.
The spreader isn't so bad, but if you use a smaller granular, almost guaranteed that you will have stripes in your lawn. The small granules collect inside the hollow wheels, and then fall out and leave lines like tiger stripes across your lawn.
Lasted about 18 months which is about 6 applications. Last summer the door and broadcaster (spinner) stuck frequently, resulting in fertilizer burn, this spring the shaft on the broadcaster broke. I bought this to replace the scotts mini spreader which lasted maybe 3 yrs. No more Scott's equipment for me.
Disappointing design. Have tried to walk faster, edge guard on and off etc. Leaves stripes in lawn due to wheel placement and design. Granules get bounced off wheels from height of drop mechanism and they also collect in wheel housing.
Used once - the wheel broke. My lawn isn't even bumpy! It is SO cheaply made - the wheels may as well be made out of cardboard. They should not be asking more than $15 for this cheap product. I used it once last spring and then got to look at my motley mess of a lawn the rest of the year - dark green patches and dead patches where it barfed out too much fertilizer.
This spreader dropped most of the fertilizer in an approximately 12 inch wide strip. My grass looks like a checkerboard.
Less than one season and the orange part that holds the upper end of the cable that activates the edgeguard broke and I can find no replacement parts for this
I was excited to have a reason to purchase a new Scotts spreader after years of great results with my old Speedy Green 2000 that finally collapsed from exhaustion. What a nightmare my lawn is now, nothing but lines and disparate patches of deep green grass throughout the yard, courtesy of about $150 of Scott's Bonus S that was fed through the DLX over 10K+ sq.ft. of grass. Extremely disappointed in the 'performance' of this spreader. It ruined the appearance of my lawn and wasted the expensive Scotts product that I've invested in for years. Now I need to find more time and money to repair the mess it made.
Used - came dirty with residue from use…
