The spreader worked well. The only issue I had was with the packaging. You can see from the picture that the tape was loose on the box and the spreader was about to fall out. It appeared that the tape had insufficient adhesive on it and that was the reason for the box coming apart. Need to share pic with tape manufacturer or vendor .
I used this today and it worked great! My only issue was with how it was shipped. It came in a shipping box with the spreader loose in that box and didn't have any directions and was missing a bolt to secure the handle. I did have a bolt on hand and was able to take care of the problem.
Box was damaged, no padding or paperwork instructions in box, very dirty We shall see if it works?
Seems like a fine device so far, but it's a little stupid and ridiculous that the sticker label on the spreader says to go to Scotts.com to find the correct dial setting and IT'S NOWHERE TO BE FOUND on the Scotts website. So, I'm just defaulting to the MIDDLE OF THE DIAL, having NO IDEA if that's the correct setting for what I'm doing. I am on the product page right now, and none of the expandable sections have the settings chart. The search bar gives NO RESULTS for "Mini Spreader Settings". Seriously? Big companies like Scotts that have multiple departments CLEARLY NOT TALKING TO EACH OTHER has come to be expected. Pathetic. Hey, Scotts product developers.....How about this? WHY NOT PUT THE SETTINGS RIGHT ON THE PRODUCT STICKER? That way, nobody has to search your nearly useless website.
I bought this product around 2019 and have used it with fertilizers with OK results. The smaller size is perfect for our relatively small lawns and garage storage space. However I cannot find settings information I need. The label on the product says "refer to our website for settings information" and the website says "refer to your label for settings information". Catch-22. Seems to me the product team is the problem ... the classical recipe for marketing failure. I don't recommend you buy their spreaders.
1) Axle rusted at wheel connection. 2,) The orange part deteriorated (crumbling), but still fintions. I had the this and other Scotts' units for several years. Each one of them failed due to rust or poor materials. This model in particular rusted at the point where the wheels are attached to the axel. If there were replacement parts I could just replace the axel and be good to go. The wheel axle issue, IMO, is a unforgivable manufacturing flaw. The inner and outer axel "tube" could be coated as to be more chemical & rust resistant...particularly at the wheels since one cannot realistically clean or wash/rinse that area out. The orange plastics is just a poor choice of material. Again either a better raw plastic material and/or coating to protect it from the sun and chemicals used in lawn care I just bought a new one of this model and the axel design appears to be the same. The orange and green parts changed slightly, but if would appear the 'new' orange part would work in the old unit. Over the years other Scotts' Spreader units failed similarly within a few years of use...even though I wash/rinsed the units after use. Besides being able to buy replacement part rather than replacing every few years...I wish there was a stainless steel and/or solid plastic/ axel & handle version.
Packing was awful shipped in a box that was to big. I thought I was buying a new one looks like they sent one that may have new but not in original box! Box was torn and had a gapping hole. No way to contact the seller. Disappointing.
It's possible that Walmart, with good intentions, tried to ship this item to me. But FedEX had different ideas. They're sending it on a world tour. It went from 2 miles away in Colorado down to Texas. I'm very interested to track where it ends up next. Europe? Australia?
This is plastic kids toy not a functional spreader. For 50 dollars?? Wow do better people this is ridiculous.
We ordered online, and when delivered, not all parts were included.
