I don't understand some of the negative reviews, this is a Tron arcade cabinet in every way shape or form. If you ever played the original Tron and/or Discs of Tron like I did back in the day, the nostalgia will come washing over you the second you start playing. The customizations you can make to each game, such as adding more lives will let you get further than you could in the original arcade, which is nice for those of us not as skilled as others. The only negative thing I can say is the trigger on the joystick is a little stiff and I think it's edges could be rounded a little more. If that happens to you, then rest assured there are easy to implement aftermarket mods you can apply.
Far as other reviews go. Don't listen to the negative. How can you write a review when not released yet. If you remember the original than your in for a treat cause this is pretty close. Controls are led lit instead of black light lit. the inside area is lit but black light leds which light the inside area. This has an led light deck. Pretty cool. Everything is how I remember it from the original. Games are the same. Games back then much different than todays but these games are still fun no doubt. Marquee lights up too. Comes with stool too. This arcade1up feels taller than other games I have. Great addition to the man cave experience. Glad I bought it. Was waiting a long time for this to come out. I added pictures
I am really pleased with my Tron machine. The package arrived in great condition, and no pieces were missing nor were they damaged. I didn't find it any harder than other Arcade1ups to build, and just made sure to avoid all those gotchas I've had in the past with this machine. (ie making sure holes are facing up, always using the right sized screw, not forcing the second side to fit into all the different dowels.) The machine is definitely heavier and taller than most other Arcade1ups, and although cool - the shape of the Tron machine doesn't lend itself to being easily picked up. The game play is great if you love Tron and Discs of Tron. Keep in mind these are older games, and although nostalgic, they are pretty basic. I haven't had issues with the arcade stick breaking (or even giving an indicators of breaking), and even though the spinner doesn't zip around like the original. I kind of like the slower speed of it as it helps with my accuracy. The design of the machine is great, and the lighting really makes it sparkle. It took me a few minutes to figure out the button next to the screen turns on the lights at the bottom of the monitor. I enjoy seeing my score compared to others' online - and it adds a little competitive fun not found in the original
the nostalgia that this game is brings to my house and how it introduces this game to my kids is awesome. wasn't too difficult to set up.
If you grew up playing this game at the arcade, this is about as close as one can get to the real thing. Easy to assemble. The unique controls, sights, sounds, and all of the games of the original Tron are there. Time to get atop that leader board.
When assembled it looks great. With a couple of mods (~$200 extra) you can get it close to the original. The games are pretty much like the old ones and this a good show piece. The joystick/flightstick looks cool when lit up, but its functionality is not good. It gets stuck all the time. It has no bounce back to the center so you have to manually put it back to center. Besides gameplay, typing in a long Wi-Fi password is just awful as it sticks and just scrolls through the letters. I wasn't expecting arcade quality but a joystick that doesn't have enough spring to center itself back is not acceptable. Several others have complained about this online, too. Most likely I'll need to buy another mod when it's available.
Item did not work and the seller was unwilling to help. Walmart made the return process extremely difficult as well. DO NOT BUY!!! (FYI.... I own 6 other Arcade 1 up machines).
I was pretty excited with this Tron machine out of the box. The build was really smooth, the cabinet was solid and gameplay was exactly as I remembered. The fun lasted about three weeks - with maybe 30 mins of gameplay max in a day. The joystick function (specifically upwards/forward motion) stopped working properly (action onscreen stuck constantly moving in an upward motion). Going online to Arcade1UP support led to an automated troubleshooting guide that walked me through making sure connections were complete and a view of the joystick from below made it apparent that the forward/upward sensor/trigger was simply sticking and not bouncing back as the other directions do. It could be manually "reset" but sticks again after reassembly and reuse. Arcade1UP required videos to prove the issue and after a few emails and three days later, agreed to send a replacement joystick. That was a month ago. A month with an unplayable cabinet. Follow-up emails have only received the response that the part is backordered and they cannot provide an estimated date to ship. An inquiry into a refund tells me that's between me and Wal-Mart. This from a system whose materials in the box urge you NOT to return the system with any problems but instead to work directly with Arcade1UP. I cannot expect Wal-Mart to accept a return of a console that has been totally assembled nearly two months after my purchase. So I'm stuck - and out $700. This was my first Arcade1UP experience and I was concerned about quality and wear over time - but I never imagined something would break after only three weeks and that follow-up for repairs would be so disappointing. Never again. I'd suggest anyone looking to purchase use a credit card that offers protection against this type of swindle because Arcade1UP seems to have no interest whatsoever in ensuring their customers are satisfied.
1st week both joystick and the spinner controller broke. replacement parts a momth out. lot of steps just to get replacement's. dont but to they upgraded the quality of the controllers.
A lot of money for low quality, my joystick broke after the first use. Try and find a replacement. You have to put it together like an ikea piece of cheap furniture
