It is exactly what it is. It's for the ps5. Received it fast. It was not damaged. Easy to install (hardest part was taking off the cover to the system and finding a screw that fits lol). Easy to format. I cannot complain. Decent investment if you do not want to try to find an external hard drive (when you're under the influence) to load or down load your games) when you are going between games.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have been waiting for an external storage that is compatible with the Sony PlayStation 5 and I'm so glad that Samsung made it a reality. The Samsung 980 Pro was very easy to installed on the PlayStation. It actually took me more effort to get the PS5 open to put the 980 Pro M.2 SSD in its slot. As you may not know, the Samsung 980 Pro PCIe 4.0 NVMe M.2 SSD is really one of the few I would recommend for the PS5 due to its next generation technology. This is the 4th generation NVMe M.2 SSD storage that works seamlessly with the PS5. I'm glad that it already comes with heat sink capability because installing a heat sink on your own is tedious and most of us aren't comfortable doing it ourselves. Once the drive was installed, the PS5 automatically recognized it and began the formatting process which took no more than 15 seconds. I transferred all my game's data into the Samsung Pro 980 to give me more capability for additional games as games are becoming more and more storage hungry these days. The transfer was quick with no issues. The transfer rate exceeded what Sony recommended so I'm very pleased with the new SSD storage from Samsung. Again, it's a must have for those with next gen consoles. I received this product at a discounted rate in exchange for my honest opinion.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is now my main Windows Drive. 6999MB/s sequential read and 5217Mb/s sequential write 461181 IOPS Random Read and 305664 IOPS random write The drive runs very cool around 30 degree C. Note that I am not using it for any data analysis or content creation. I am an normal user who games occassionally. The main thing is cloning from the existing NVME hosting Windows drive to this 2TB Gen4 drive was breeze. The Samsung Magician took care of the cloning as well as organizing the recovery partition at the start of the drive without any instructions. Overall very good software support by Samsung
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I acquired a PS5 Disc Version in January of 2021, I knew I would eventually want to expand the storage capabilities within the PS5 for my current gam. With the Samsung PRO w/ Heatsink, I don't have to store everything locally. After some research, I determined that the Samsung 980 PRO with Heatsink was the best match for my needs versus competitors. After setting up the PS5, updating it to the latest software, I was able to install this M.2 Solid State Drive (SSD) quickly. The formatting process took only 10 seconds. The SSD will allow for less power draw, less heat, easier to cool. The PS5 recognized it upon next boot, recognized how fast it is, and then let me format it so it could be used with the system. The other great feature is this is an add-on component internally vs. having a device connected to an external USB drive. I would recommend anyone who is purchasing a PS5 to get this immediately and save yourself the hassle! I received this product at a discounted rate in exchange for my honest opinion.

So after I bought and installed the 980 pro w/ heatsink my playstation became .. a Playstation I have multiple games installed into my PS5 now an my PS5 runs a lil faster with it installed I highly recommend this product
Easy to install. Does exactly what you want it to do, which is add extra storage space in order to install several games at once or give breathing room to games with constant updates and expansions(I see you Call of Duty).
i have it installed in my ps5 and it met/exceeded expectations on it. read speed on the ps5 was 6499 very fast. i didnt get a discount on this product but i wish i did!!!
I was debating between this SSD and the WD Black SSD. This one works amazing! The speeds are great and it's definitely worth the price. Highly Recommend this one if you are deciding between some SSDs
