Good Grinder For the $

Good grinder for the price. When you use it put vegetable oil on the shaft and don't over tighten it (hand tighten) and you'll get good results. If a little meat comes out through the threadings it's no big deal, it's better than metal in the food.

Does the job as long as it lasts

This is the second FGA I've had in the last 15 years..first one was used maybe 10 times in 5 years or so and then the housing split apart. Tossed it and then bought a new one, have had it for about a year now and it gets used maybe twice a month and where the set screw for where it attaches to the mixer has basically drilled out. Now the set screw is biting into the drive shaft. Trying to decide if I want to buy another one of these or buy a completely separate one.. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

MINE TOO CRACKED!

Reviewed in the USA on 2017-05-14T17:00:00

I was grinding some meat today and heard a loud "crack" coming from the grinder. Sure enough, there were 2 cracks in the housing; one at 11 o'clock and one at 3 o'clock, loofing at the power hub attachment end. I put a hose clamp on it to finish my project but it won't last forever. I'm writing this because I saw so many other complaints of this nature in the reviews. Is it a design flaw? Cracks in body

I have not used the grinder very often. But now I was planning on using to make chicken sausage on a regular basis. I recently found cracks in the body around the back hub. Very disappointed with construction. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Ours cracked too

Our mixer has served us well for many years but the rarely used grinder is obviously inferior. Like many of the reviewers stated the unit simply cracked. While it is still usable it's probably just a matter of time before it gives up. NOT money well spent.

JUNK!

Reviewed in the USA on 2017-07-30T17:00:00

I was in the middle of grinding soft, mushy blackberries (not some tough meat mind you) when suddenly......POW! the grinder split apart. This was only my 2nd time using this. You'd think as powerful and heavy-duty as their Stand Mixer is Kitchen Aid would have an accessory that could handle that power. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Not Dishwasher safe

Have one of these grinder attachments. KitchenAid chose to use some cheap pot metal aluminum alloy on the main body piece which inserts into the mixer power head. When run through the dishwasher, that piece is corroded by dishwasher detergent and has a gray powder all over it. No telling how much would get on other dishes? It rubs on on hands as a gray discoloration. The grinder plate and blade are not intended to go through the dishwasher. I could accept that limitation, but not being able to put the main body of the grinder through the dishwasher in not acceptable. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Cracked housing

Reviewed in the USA on 2017-06-14T17:00:00

I have enjoyed using this attachment, and I have always felt that KitchenAid quality justified the price. Sadly, the housing of my grinder has cracked, and judging from the reviews, it appears to be a common problem. I cannot justify spending the money to replace this attachment. DO NOT buy one of these

JUNK bought one and worked good the 1st time. The shaft broke on 2nd use. Thought it was something I did so bought another one. The same thing happened. I was hoping to just have an attachment instead of a bulky grinder but I am out $100 and now going to have to buy a grinder that can handle the job before the meat that i have already thawed spoils. Very disappointed.

Cracks in the attachment

I have used this very few times before I noticed a crack - very disappointed as I love my Kitchen Aid mixer and use it frequently. One does not want to take a risk of food born illnesses using devices that might not get clean due to cracks in the body of the grinder. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
